Introduction
-In our shared video, we have tried to visualize the project that we aimed to perform
with some little children. The idea behind the video was presenting the children with
a variety of food that represents two major types: healthy food and junk food. While
carrying out this activity, we have learned lots of useful things. First of all, we have
learned how to prepare a subject that is suitable for learners ages in order to
attract them to the targeted activity. In this case we have selected junk and healthy
food topic which is very close to childrens favorites. Secondly the project consist of
different activities: cut and paste activity, go to a market to shop for food, classify
types of food and talk about advantages and disadvantage of this food. However,
we have faced one major problem in making students pay attention to the teacher.

Objectives

-The students will be able to:

sort the foods in to two groups : healthy food and
junk food
Be aware of the risks of unhealthy food on peoples
life.
Get used to eating healthy food.
Select suitable food items by themselves.
Classify foods in the right categories.

Our project aimed to teach and deal with grade

2 students ( 7 year old students)
How did the three science activities fit the 5 Es?

Engage:
The first stage of the 5Es is Engage; to get and keep children attention and build
interest so they are more involved in the learning process.
To achieve the goal of engaging students in the lesson, I have decided to follow the
following procedures:
-Engaging our students by showing them an exciting video to display a background
about the lesson. Then, I made few pauses to ask children some questions the foods
presented in the video. E.g.Is cake healthy food?

Explore:
-The second stage is Explore which means looking at something in a careful way to
learn more about it.

-The children went on a short tour to the supermarket to shop for different kinds of
food. Children where left free to choose whatever they want, so they bought a
mixture of food types. Some of them where healthy, whereas others werent. In this
experience, students took the opportunity to be responsible for shopping without
the interference of adults.

Explain:
-The third stage is Explain which means giving students an opportunity to explain
what they learnt to other students.

-In the lesson, we gave students the opportunity to justify the reasons for buying
their items. They explained clearly the good things and the bad things of the foods
they have chosen. They said some kinds of foods could be risky because they cause
some diseases such as high blood pressure and cavity. On the other hand, they
explained that some of the foods they have chosen, milk, banana and bread, are
good because they are important for our healthy bodies.

-Extend:
-The fourth stage is Extend which means allowing students to add more to their
previous knowledge -This happens by developing enrichment activities.

-To extend the understanding of students of the healthy food, they were given a
magazine that contains pictures of different kinds of food and asked to cut healthy
foods and paste them on a drawing of a tooth in a worksheet. The purpose of this
was extending students awareness and comprehension of foods that cant heart
their teeth.

Evaluate:
-The last stage is evaluate. The objective of this stage is to examine students
understanding of numbers.

-I gave students a homework assignment to prepare an activity or presentation that

shows their understanding of todays lesson. They were creative and all their
activities was amazing.

--Took the children to the
supermarket
- Edit the video by using
different tools
- Create the tooth activity
-Evaluate the students and
help them to do their work
Add extra part in the video
for the mistakes that
happed while I am
recording the video
