Reflection on my participation
The participation task was helpful in assisting me in understanding the course material. I think it
was difficult to keep pace with the different posts, but in researching the posts and responding
to peer questions it reinforced the material and assisted me in seeing the material from different
perspectives. In addition, the suggestions of peers were helpful in refining your own work and
understanding ways to improve my work.
The gimp activity was the hardest of the activities given as a post. The layer task took a while to
understand and the tutorial was littered with missing steps so it took days to figure out the
programme. I think that tutorial should be refined. That task was so difficult that I would not
have been able complete it without the assistance of my students.
The webpage activity was interesting and for me the most enjoyable. I liked researching the
HTML codes and enjoyed creating the webpage with the codes learnt. I was exciting just being
able to transfer the codes into a piece of work. I felt like Picasso painting a masterpiece.
Assuming I know how he would have felt.
The video activity was unchartered waters. I never videotaped, edited or published a video
before. Wow. I did not enjoy videotaping, and I should have researched how to videotape a
movie, like looking at the types of shots, the lighting, the rule of thumbs etc. I think, this is what
I need to do going forward, research the assignment before attempting to execute it. That would
have been the smart way. However, I liked editing the video. I was able to turn raw video into a
three minute instructional video that students can use. That was exciting and I felt really proud
of myself, because I never shot or edited anything before. I really like editing.

The audio activity took all the energy out of me. I spent a whole night without sleep trying to
complete the assignment. The assignment was a challenge, after my first headphones stopped
working, I had to find a way to record the audio. The eureka thought was to use my Samsung to
record the audio. I had to find a microphone app, download it on the Samsung and record the
audio. Then, I had to email it to myself and then add music to the audio.
One thing I learnt is that you can save an audio file in mp3/mp4 format as well as .wav format.
However, out of all the post activities, the most useful for me was the screenshot. I can create
short videos of a task in less than an hour. I will be using this software often.
I can honestly say that the post activities were able to assist me in completing the assignments
that we were given. It was hard going but useful.
The copyright law activity was the most informative. Learning about the latitude you have
within the law where use of material and your own creative work. The thing I found interesting is
that any material you created is copyrighted. However, you can use material for educational
purposes once it is not for profit.
