Purpose Statement
The purpose of my portfolio is to ultimately show how much I have developed and grown both
professionally and personally as a teacher of Science throughout this Diploma in Education
Programme 2015-2016. It includes my personal thoughts on teaching such as my teaching
metaphor and philosophy, reflective journals and other evidence of my teacher effectiveness and
student learning. It will show both my competences and the areas in my teaching where
improvement is needed. By providing structured documentation of these many aspects of my
teaching in this portfolio, it is my hope to use it for ongoing reflection and self- analysis to
constantly improve my teaching skills throughout my career.
