What is shodanHQ ?

The name Shodan is a reference to SHODAN, a character from

the System Shock video game series

Search engine that lets the user find specific types of computers
(routers, servers, webcams, etc.) connected to the internet using
a variety of filters

How does it work?

Shodan crawls hundreds of devices a second and provides that

information through a stream

Shodan Explorer picks a single IP out of the stream every time

you ask for a new host

Performs a few checks to make sure you're getting a web server
