Assessment Project Part 2
The assessment part of my project will be talking about the different children that I had to
observe in the Head Start classroom. I started the observations on 26 January 2016 with my first child
Angel and a little bit on Mariella. Then I will be talking about the third child Victor and I started with
him later due to the fact my other child was not coming to school. I started with Victor on 2 February
2016. Finally I finished up all my observations with all the children on the 14 April 2016. I will be
talking about all three of the children starting with Angel, Mariella, and Victor.
First I will be talking about Angel I started with her on 26 January 2016 to 14 April 2016. In the
time I was able to see that she has turned too mastered in the cognition part of the observation. She
still has one developing in the cognition part of the observation. In the communication part she has
most of them mastered. She still has one the is developing and that is the one if she knows her first and
last name, address, date of birth, and phone number. I think she get confused about what last name to
write down it sounds like she is adopted. I have heard her talk to the teachers she has two last names. I
feel that is why she is just not at mastered. The next subject was fine motor I got to see more this time
and have her with four at mastered. I have three at developing and that is good due to the fact last time
I didnt get anything at all in this area. I have two at emerging and one I still didnt ever get to see
Angel doing. In the fine motor part she has one that is mastered and she can do all on her own. She has
one that is emerging in this area. She has five I still have not seen her do while I was in the classroom
in the gross motor part. Her social emotional part of the observations she has come to mastered all five
questions they ask on the observations.

Second I will be talking about Mariella I started with her on 26 January 2016 to 14 April 2016.
In the time I was able to see that she has went from emerging too mastered on nine different areas in
the cognition part of the observation. She has one in developing area of cognition. She has three in the
emerging part and one that was never seen while I was in the classroom. In the communication part of
these observations she had no mastered areas in this part. She had two in the developing part of the
observations. She has three in the emerging part of the observations of this assessment. I got to see
more in the fine motor part of the observations. I saw that she went from emerging to mastered. She
has mastered three from this area. She has worked on some I didnt even get to see in the first
observation. She still has a few that I was unable to see while I was in the class. In the gross motor part
of the observations she had one mastered and one emerging. The rest were not ever seen while I was in
the classroom. In the social emotional part of the observations she has mastered all the skills that are
required in this area.
Third I will be talking about Victor and I started with him 2 February 2016 to 14 April 2016. He
has always been a little bit harder to observe due to the fact that he is always missing class. In the
cognition part of the observation he has nine mastered in this area. He still has one in developing and
the rest are in emerging. I feel it is due to the fact he is not in school as mush and he is falling behind
the other two children. The next part is going to be communication in the observation part of the
assessment. He has two mastered in this part and he has two in the developing part of this assessment.
The next part is going to be fine motor in this area Victor has some that have never been seen in the
classroom. He also has two that are mastered and a few that are developing he can do certain things
very well. I know some of the things in all the areas he can do I just have not seen them so I cant
mark something I havent seen. The gross motor part of the observation has a lot that has never been
seen while I was in the classroom. In this area he has one that was mastered and that is using the
bathroom all by his self. The last part is the social emotional part of the observations and he has
moved from emerging to mastered in every part of this section.

Finally I will talk about my experience with the children at the Head Start Classroom. They
were all so willing to sit and include me into the things they are doing and become a part of their class.
I really enjoy getting to have this experience with each one of the children. I feel that in the future you
should give more time to see more. The children can do way more then what you get to see in a few
different times. We should have been in the classroom for a week straight to be able to gain more
information on the children we are doing observations for. I learned a lot with the children that were
there more than the one child I had to change due to the fact he was gone. Im excited to have had the
experience in the classroom with the teachers and the children. They are so good to me and make me
feel like a part of the class.
