Philosophy of Education
‘When you enter my classroom, you will discover that you are a part of a big extended
family. We are a family that will respect each other despite our cultural differences. I will set
high standards for my students and strive for us to reach them together. It is my philosophy that i
students should be responsible for their own Icarning, they should have some college awareness, |
and they should be trained to become well-rounded, |
As the classroom facilitator, I will ensure that each of my students are responsible for |
their own leaning. ‘They will be provided with rap videos, periodically, to help them remember
formulas to various math problems. As we matriculate through the school year, the students will
be responsible for creating their own rap video. Each student will be assigned to a group and they
will meet every Friday for at least twenty minutes to strategize. After the completion of their
projects, I will invite their parents in for a night of “Pizza and Productions’ to show off their
creativity. The following year, I will show the next set of students the videos to get them excited
about creating their own,
In my classroom, I will introduce many College and Universities within the State of
South Carolina to my students. I will ensure that all of those schools’ pennants hang on the walls,
of my classroom, My students will also lean about different Colleges and Universities across the
United States and learn the differences between a HBCU and a PWI. I will hold class discussions |
about different types of majors and minors, and I will have my students write about their dream |
school. My students will be educated and college bound, If permitted, I will take my students on |
trips to local colleges and universities to have class discussions and lunch at least once each |
semester. |
By the end of our class, my students will have become more well-rounded. They will j
have learned how to respect and work well with other people who are different from them. They
will be trained how to create things and how to present them to an audience; and my students
will be college bound and they will travel. The most important aspect of my presence is to ensure
that my students transition into an Educated Mind Set. I believe the quote that states the
following, “education is not a preparation for life; itis life itself.” If T teach them how to think,
they will only know how I think. However, ifI teach them to think, they will teach me what they
know and together we will all grow because we are a family!
