Depending on model, there are three display modules available for the F-Series Backhoe Loader:
C4.4 Four Gauge Cluster (4GC)
C3.4B Four Gauge Cluster (4GC)

Each display module is divided into the following three areas:

Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge

(1) - The engine coolant gauge will
indicate in the red zone and the action
lamp will flash when the engine
coolant temperature reaches 113 C
(235 F). Stop the machine at a
convenient location and investigate
the cause.
Fuel Level Gauge (2) - The fuel level
gauge will indicate in the red zone
when the fuel level is 10% of the tank
capacity.
Digital Display (3) - The LCD will display available menus, parameter values, and mode
indicators.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Gauge
(4) - The purpose of the DEF Level
gauge is display how much DEF is
remaining in the DEF tank. The

Minimum Value is 0% and the

Maximum Value is 100%. The
warning line value is 19%.

Torque Converter Oil Temperature

Gauge (5) - The torque converter
temperature indicator will indicate in
the red zone when the torque converter
temperature exceeds 110 C (230 F).
Action lamp (13) will also illuminate
and the action alarm will sound. Stop
the machine at a convenient location
and investigate the cause. When there
is a fault with the torque converter
temperature sensor, the Action lamp
will flash.

Wait to Start Lamp (6) - The

purpose of this feature is to indicate to
the operator that the cold start
assistance device needs to warm the
engine prior to cranking.
Machine Fuel Economy Mode (7) This indicator is illuminated when the
fuel economy mode is active.
All Wheel Steer Lamp (8) - This
indicator is illuminated when All Wheel
Steering is selected.
Water in Fuel Lamp (9) - The alert
indicator indicates water in the fuel.
The Action lamp (13) will also
illuminate. Stop the engine, drain the
water from the bowl, then restart the
engine.
Remote Throttle Active (10) - The
Remote Throttle Active lamp indicates
that the remote accelerator has been
enabled and controls the engine.
Low Fuel Level Indicator (11) - The Low Fuel Level Indicator will illuminate when the fuel
level is at or below 10% of the tank capacity.
Engine Warning Lamp (12) - The
Engine Warning indicator is used to
show the operator if a Level 1, Level
2, Level 2S, or Level 3 warning has
occurred on the Engine ECM.

Action Lamp (13) - The Action

Lamp is used to indicate Level 2,
Level 2S, and Level 3 warnings to the
operator.
Emissions Module Malfunction (14)
- This indicator is illuminated when
there is a Failure or Malfunction with
the Engine Emission System.
Low DEF Level Indicator (15) - The Low DEF Level Indicator illuminates when there is a low
diesel exhaust fluid level (DEF) level.
Automatic Engine Speed Control
(AESC) Indicator (16) - This
indicator illuminates to show that the
Automatic Engine Speed Control
(AESC) is ON.
Object Stability Warning Lamp
(17) - The object stability warning
indicator is used to notify the operator
of machine tipping instability while
object handling with the hoe.
Regen Inhibited (18) - Indicates that
Regen has been manually inhibited
(C3.4B Only).
Hydraulic Oil Temperature High
(19) - The hydraulic oil temperature
indicator will illuminate when the
hydraulic oil reaches 110 C (230 F).
Action lamp (13) will also illuminate.
Operation of the hydraulic functions
must be reduced in order to allow the
hydraulic fluid to cool.
Charging System Indicator (20) The Charging System Indicator will
show if there is a fault in the charging
system. If this alert indicator
illuminates, the system voltage is too
low for normal machine operation.

The lower warning line value is 11
Vdc. The upper warning line value is
16 Vdc.
Torque Converter Oil Temperature
Gauge (31) - The torque converter
temperature indicator will indicate in
the red zone when the torque converter
temperature exceeds110 C (230 F).
Action lamp (36) will also illuminate
and the action alarm will sound. Stop
the machine at a convenient location
and investigate the cause. The torque
converter temperature indicator will
flash when there is a fault with the
torque converter temperature sensor.

of machine tipping instability while
object handling with the hoe.
Engine DPF Lamp (39) - A steady
illumination indicates when Diesel
Particulate Filter (DPF) active
regeneration is needed at the lowest
level of urgency and that operator
intervention is required. The flashing

state indicates a more severe

condition requiring regeneration.
Engine Oil Pressure Low Lamp (40)
- When the engine oil pressure is low,
the following will happen: the alert
indicator will illuminate, the action
lamp (36) will flash, and an audible
alarm will sound. If this alert indicator
illuminates, stop the machine
immediately. Stop the engine, engage
the parking brake, and investigate the
cause.

Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge

(41) - The engine coolant gauge will
indicate in the red zone and the action
lamp will flash when the engine
coolant temperature reaches 113 C
(235 F). Stop the machine at a
convenient location and investigate
the cause.
Tachometer (42) - The tachometer displays the engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm). The
gauge range is 0 to 3000 rpm. The pointer enters the red zone at 2600 rpm. If necessary, reduce
the engine speed until the revolutions per minute decrease.
Fuel Level Gauge (43) - The fuel
level gauge will indicate in the red
zone when the fuel level is 10% of the
tank capacity.

Wheel Steering is selected.
Automatic Engine Speed Control
(AESC) Indicator (48) - This
indicator illuminates to show that the
Automatic Engine Speed Control
(AESC) is ON.
Engine Oil Pressure Low Lamp (49)
- When the engine oil pressure is low,
the following will happen: the alert
indicator will illuminate, the action
lamp (55) will flash, and an audible
alarm will sound. If this alert indicator
illuminates, stop the machine
immediately. Stop the engine, engage
the parking brake, and investigate the
cause.
Charging System Indicator (50) The alert indicator illuminates if there
is a malfunction in the electrical
charging system. If this alert indicator
illuminates, the system voltage is too
low for normal machine operation.
Parking Brake (51) - This status
indicator indicates that the parking
brake is engaged. If this indicator is
illuminated, disengage the parking
brake before attempting to move the
machine.
Object Stability Warning Lamp
(52) - The object stability warning
indicator is used to notify the operator

hydraulic oil is bypassing the hydraulic
filter. Action lamp (55) will also
illuminate.
Action Lamp (55) - The Action
Lamp is used to indicate Level 2,
Level 2S, and Level 3 warnings to the
operator.
Water in Fuel Lamp (56) - The alert
indicator indicates water in the fuel.
Action lamp (55) will also illuminate.
Stop the engine, drain the water from
the bowl, then restart the engine.
Air Filter Blocked (57) - The alert
indicator will light when the air filter
becomes clogged. If this alert indicator
comes on, stop the machine and
investigate the cause.

purpose of this feature is to indicate to
the operator that the cold start
assistance device needs to warm the
engine prior to cranking.
Engine Coolant Temperature High
(59) - The engine coolant lamp will
illuminate when the engine coolant
