Occupational therapists must follow a strict code of ethics to protect patient safety and confidentiality. The code ensures patient information like names, ages, diagnoses and treatments are kept private. Therapists must uphold integrity and refer to the code of ethics if uncertain about a situation to make sure patients' well-being and rights are the top priority.

Having a code of ethics in the medical field is extremely
important especially in occupational therapy since most of the patients have some sort of disability. This is largely for the safety and well being of the patients. Confidentiality is significant for all medical information including name, age, diagnosis, and treatment. I will use this code of ethics to withhold integrity once I become an occupational therapist and use it to refer to in a situation a may be unsure about.
