Preparing The Resume:

The Resume:

Should there be changes:

Choose a format youre

comfortable with.
o Dont choose a resume
format that is too busy or
one you created yourself.
Include all personal information
that will be needed.
o i.e. email address, phone
number, street address,
etc.
Prioritize work experience.

i.e. if youre applying for a job as an

electrician, mowing your neighbors lawn
when you were 13 isnt really relevant.

Rarely should it be more than one

page long.
Concerning font, nothing too busy is
wanted. A basic resume to many
employers means more professional.
Highlight your own strengths and
achievements.
o The point of a resume and job
interview is to get YOU the job,
not hand it to the person youre
competing with. Make yourself
look employable.

Resumes are not a one size fits

all thing.
o Needs to be
updated/changed
depending on the job
youre interviewing for.
Dont insinuate anything that
could be misleading.
o This could help you get
your foot in the door, but
can also send you away.
Compare and contrast.
o Never submit a resume
before contacting
someone who can help
you better your resume.
o Better resume, better job
potential.
