I would first create a story that would describe how the limestone caves were formed.

Then to revise it I would present it to the test readers, which would be a group of normal park
goers on any given day, and ask them to paraphrase, How were the limestone caves created?
The only foreseeable flaw in this test method would be an individuals ability to retain the
information, based on their interest level in wanting to know how the caves were created.

For instruction on how to build a patio, a likert-scale would be effective. The test readers

would need to be able to imagine completing all of the steps and also identify which terminology
should be changed for a better understanding of the instructions. Using the likert-scale before
and after could indicate the test readers initial base level of knowledge on patio building and
their confidence in doing so. This will give a good conclusion in the test results of who can
actually complete the instructions, and how much detailed help will need to be added to them.

To design a user test for your schools website I would answer the questions from figure

18.6 Writers Guide Testing Draft. I would gather data to know what high school students need to
know and what they want to know about choosing which college to attend. My target test readers
would be students from the locals high schools (Waxahachie, Midlothian, Red Oak, etc.). To
further gather useful information for these student I would also consider receiving responses
from first year students that are already attending Navarro College and why they are. My test

questions would include: Why choose Navarro?, What degree plans do they offer?, A tuition
comparison to other available options., Given the feedback of current student, how does that
effect your decision?, and What on the website has encouraged you to consider Navarro?. My
instructions for the perspective student would be leading them to find answers to all of the
questions and contact information for the advisors.
