Whats the Trending Topic?

Question: What would happen if regular, everyday people set trends?

I chose this topic because trends seem to make up a very large
part of society and the way people act within it. No matter whether it
is: fashion, lifestyle, or simple sayings, these things seem to come in
and out of style frequently. I notice that some times certain fashion
trends come back in style that were first started a few decades before
and I really wonder why this is. Does it have to deal with what is going
on in the world around us or is it simply just because the new
generation wants to experience what they have missed. Today, I find
that most trends are set by the people in current popular culture and
the question arose: what if they werent the ones to set trends? What if
regular people set new sayings, fashion ideas, and other things that
shape how people react within their society? How would this change
how people think or act? What good or possible evils could come from
this? Would everyone want to compete to have the next trending idea
or could we possibly even see this today? These are the questions that

come to mind when I think about the possibilities of trends being set by
average middle to lower class people.
Coming into researching this topic I did not know much. I knew
that trends were not only dealing with fashion, but also with almost
every aspect of what makes up what happens in the world. Being a
Business Administration major I am aware of some business trends that
are popular such as social media to reach out to more audiences. Like
business trends, there are other trends that tremendously shape our
country such as economic, social, and religious trends. These are
important because people depend on these things to determine how to
live their lives and which decisions are best to make based on how well
these trends are doing.
When I first began researching this topic I was most curious
about how someone like myself could start a wildly popular trend.
What are the steps I would have to follow in order to become the next
trendsetter? This is what I am still thinking about upon doing more
research on this topic and I plan on finding out how to do so.
