Its especially frustrating and perplexing to

be around such individuals when theyre in
the same difficult or troubling situation as we
are but seem happy in spite of it.
Pg. 179, paragraph 2

I know of several people like this in my life

who have very reason to be upset with the
world and everyone in it, but yet they are
some of the most joyful people to be around. I
feel that people put in these situations are
there for a greater purpose and most of them
are models for how everyone should be living
their lives.

[Angela] finds deep satisfaction in helping

others heal from their own wounds and
traumas, for as she reasons, Its virtually
impossible to face ones shadows alone.
Pg. 180, paragraph 7

I agree with her quote, Its virtually

impossible to face ones shadows alone
because I feel that we are all placed on this
Earth to uplift one another and be there when
times get rough. People like Angela are here
to show us that not all negative events
happen to hold us down from helping others.

Happiness is not out there for us to find.

The reason that its not out there is that its
inside us.
Pg. 185, paragraph 19

This is something that I am not sure that I will

ever be able to truly grasp. I understand that
happiness is what you make it and it is up to
us to make the experiences we have be
uplifting to ourselves and others, but we
usually go for success to be happy. This
shows that we do not need worldly things to
make us happy, but happiness truly lies within
us.

The reality is that the elements that

determined our happiness in the past, and
can make for future happiness, are with us
right now and are right here waiting to be

What happened to us in the past that made

us happy are good things to keep as
memories, but we have to realize that we
should live for the moment. We have to

taken advantage of.

Pg. 185, paragraph 20

realize that those things that made us happy

are not the only things that can bring joy.
