Dear Art Supporter,

Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the
world unbearable, so said George Bernard Shaw, and he was right.
Especially in todays economic uncertainty, the pleasure we get from visual and
performing arts is immeasurable.
The Grand Strand area has been chosen to host the 39th annual meeting and juried
exhibition of the South Carolina Watermedia Society, presenting our residents a
chance to be part of a major art event. The SCWS activities will boost the local
economy by bringing local art supporters, artists, their family and friends as well as
tourists from the outside area.
The 30 award winning paintings chosen from the total exhibit and a catalog with
color reproductions will travel the state for a year under the direction of the SC
State Art Museum. The catalog will list the award donors, supporters and members
of the organization.
Please be a part of that list of underwriters!! Our focus this year is to teach art to
the youth and include in the museum during our exhibition some of the local youth
art work. We will have special thanks for our supporters in our catalog and website
www.scwatermedia.com. Any amount you want to contribute will enhance our
endeavors.

The SCWS 39th annual meeting and art exhibit will be held at the Franklin G.
Burroughs Art Museum opening October 8th and closing November 27th, 2016. Our
budget to produce this exhibition is approximately $20,000 with half of this going
towards cash awards for the artists. Thirty awards are chosen from the
approximate 75 to 100 paintings and will comprise a traveling show facilitated by
the SC State Museum. The show will travel all over the state of South Carolina,
giving more opportunities to these artists for their work to be seen. We have
already received donations and grants from local individuals, businesses,
foundations and local art organizations. But we still need help! We are in need of
award sponsors, and would ask you to consider being one of our sponsors. At
present, the following awards are needed:

Best in Show- $1000

Second Place- $750
Third Place- $500
Fourth Place- $350
Fifth Place- $300

The other 25 awards will be in the amounts of $250 or $200, depending on the
amount of donations. Any amount you wish to donate would be appreciated.
By donating any of the above amounts, you will be listed in our catalog and on our
website as a sponsor of that particular award. Your name will travel with the
painting throughout the year and printed in the catalogs which are kept by
members of our organization as a reference and distributed throughout the state
with the traveling show. The SC Watermedia Society is very important to the
cultural and economic aspects of our state and we are working hard to gain
momentum back from the recent hard economic times. Your help is greatly
