Dear Mr. Salyer:
My name is Jef Spiva and I am a student at Lord Fairfax Community College and have just completed my teaching practicum for my EDU 200 class. The purpose for this letter is to express my gratitude and appreciation to you for allowing me to complete my practicum at your facility. This experience in an integral step in my journey to becoming a teacher, and without the participation of local schools, that wouldnt be possible. Mr. Reed was my cooperating teacher. I would like to take this time to tell you how fortunate your school is to have Mr. Reed as a teacher. His extensive knowledge of History, alone, would be enough to qualify him as an exceptional teacher, however, he is much more than just a fact dispenser. His ability to make history interesting with a mixture of storytelling, humor, and charm, keep his students actively engaged in what hes teaching. More importantly, Mr. Reed displays many of the classroom management techniques and research-based teaching strategies that are not only taught in textbooks, but are also proven methods for success. His understanding of how to design a lesson plan that incorporates elements that address all learning styles is quite impressive. I feel very fortunate to have mentored under Mr. Reed. In closing, I would like to thank you once again. It was a pleasure spending time with your teachers and students. Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Spiva 205 Clydesdale Dr. Stephens City, VA 22655
