Worksheet #6. Dimensioning examples.

1) The two drawings below show components made from mild steel plate, 15mm thick.
Dimension both drawings so that accurate manufacture can be carried out.

Use machined surfaces as reference (datum) edges.


Holes are to be reamed.
Obtain sizes by measuring the drawing.
All dimensions in millimeters.

2) Fully dimension this iron V-block for manufacture.

Hole to be drilled and area around top to be spot-faced over a 20mm diameter.
Obtain sizes by measuring the drawing.
V angle is 90.
All dimensions in millimeters.
Add all necessary notes.

3) Fully dimension this BUSH for manufacture.

Assume component is to be machined all over.


Use back of flange machined surface as reference (datum).
Holes:
4mm diameter drill equi-spaced.
Chamfer: 2mm x 45.
Obtain all other sizes by measuring the drawing.
All dimensions in millimeters.
Add all necessary notes.

Assume component is to be machined all over.


Use back of flange machined surface as reference (datum).
Countersink:
90, enlarges drilled holes from 5mm diameter to 10mm diameter.
Internal chamfer:
3mm x 60.
Obtain all other sizes by measuring the drawing.
All dimensions in millimeters.
Add all necessary notes.
