Standard 5

With guidance and assistance from my mentor I was able to interpret student
assessment data to evaluate their learning and understanding. I was also able to
review and modify my own teaching practices (5.4). From analysing assessment
pieces I was able to review the students responses and provide constructive and
positive feedback (two positives and one negative) to encourage student
participation and engagement (5.2). I assessed student learning by using
formative, diagnostic and summative assessment. The summative assessment
tasks were used to show students understanding and learning of the unit. By
using summative assessment tasks I was able to review and evaluate what the
students know and what the students did not know. During assessment
moderations I compared student work with others to ensure I my marking was
fair and consistent (5.3). By doing this I am able to recognise where I need to be
more explicit with my own teaching for students to comprehend the concept
(5.1). Using communication books and student diaries I was able to communicate
with parents as well as before and after school consultations. By doing this I am
able to report on student achievements and other required information (5.5).
