Aims:
Reading and Use of English Part 4: Introduction to task type; Each question consists
of a sentence followed by a key word and a second sentence with a gap in the middle.
You have to use this key word to complete the second sentence, in three to six words,
so that it means the same as the first sentence.
Speaking Part 1: Introduction to task type; Conversation between the candidates and
the interlocutor. The examiner asks questions and you may have to give information
about your interests, studies, careers, etc.

Help students with any questions they have with


regards to homework.
Review vocabulary and grammar from last class.
Students will benefit from a quick (and consistent)
refresher.
Prep students with exam information, and go over
salient points of this part of the test looking for
the clues that tell us how to complete sentences.
Elicit key ideas in the rubric i.e. similar meaning.
Help students with any questions they might have
regarding vocabulary. Elicit what kind of structure
might be needed in each of the sentences.

Have students working in pairs.
As a warmer (10min): With books closed, tell students
that in this part they will be asked questions about
themselves, their background and their activities and
interests. Working in small groups, have them
brainstorming five or six questions they may be asked.
VOCABULARY pre-teach: (10min) help them
elevate their vocabulary.

Elicit: Why are these important?
o Giving fairly long answers.
o Giving details to support answers.
o Using a variety of tenses.
o Speaking in a natural, relaxed way.

Additional Notes:
Tell students that they should start revision right from the very start. There is a lot of
information to assimilate. They should also review the reference sections at the
completion of each unit. Pages163 - 183
