Ms. T will start the projector and ost the picture of Rocky (Slide 1)

Ms. T will play the Eye of the Tiger music as students are arriving to the cafeteria

Students are getting their breakfast and a sticky note with a pen

Students are instructed to write down on the sticky note who is on the picture

Teachers are collecting the sticky notes and organize them in categories on the butcher
paper on the window

Ms. T discusses how many people identified the picture, and how many people did not
know who he was

Ms. T discusses why do you think I am talking about Rocky today?.

Teachers pass out guided notes to students while Ms.T leads a discussion

Ms. T states that according to the graph there are several people who are not familiar with
the Rocky character, so I have a short movie clip for you to watch. As you are watching it,
think of how to answer two questions on your guided notes, in the first section titled,
Training. Ms. T asks someone to read two questions.

After the video, Ms. T asks students to write their responses. While students are writing
their responses, Ms. T asks them Does anybody know anything about the Sylvester
Stallone life? Not the character but the person behind Rocky?

Ms. T says, What is inspiration? Why do we need inspiration? Lets watch another short
clip about Sylvester Stallone this time, and what inspired him. Can someone read the two
questions under the title, Inspiration. While you are watching this video, please answer the
questions in your guided notes.

Ms. T, Answer the questions. After that I want you to discuss your answers with your
partner. Share out. Teachers collect guided notes.

Point out that there are 22% dropouts in Texas. Have students read why education is
important. Ask for 5 volunteers, number them and ask them to read.
