Honestlylookingbackatthissemester,thisclasshasbeenveryhelpful.Having
previouslyfailedenglish150lastsemester,itrequiredmetoimproveuponmywoveaspectsof
writingEspeciallythewrittenandoralaspectswhichibelieveplayedahugepartinmefailing
theclasslastsemesterhavegreatlyimproved.HoweverAfterFinishingassignmentnumber#5i
cantellthatistillstruggleontheoralcommunicationaspectofwriting.
Theoralaspectofwoveisarguablythemostimportant.Ifyouarenotabletoverbally
communicateandengageyouraudience,howdoyouexpectthemtoclearlyunderstandyour
writing,orevenacceptyouviewpointsandideasasvalid.Couldyouimagineifyouhadall
thesewonderfulideasinyourhead,buthoweverhardyoutry,youarestillnotabletoOrally
communicate,youwouldbestuckinyourlonelymindmostlikelysadanddepressed,because
youwouldnotfeelimportantasaperson.Ashumanswenaturallywanttobeabletobe
understoodclearlybyotherpeople.
ThroughoutthewholesemestertherehasbeennumerousopportunitiestoImproveupon
ouroralpresentationskills,bothinassignmentnumber#3andassignment#4.Iactuallybelieve
iwasstrongerorallyinassignmentnumber#3,becauseiwasabletomaintainfocusand
engagewithaudience,ithinkhavingagroupmighthavehelpedaswell.Inassignmentnumber
5,iallowedmynervestogettome,whichcausedmetojumparoundalotduringthe
presentationwhichmakesithardfortheaudiencetofollow.

GoingforwardilooktoimproveuponbothmyoralAndwrittencommunicationskills.I
oftenreceivefeedbacksayingIgetthegistofwhatyoursayingbutcouldyoumakeitalittle
bitmoreclear.StillAsadevelopingwritermymindtendstowanderfromsentencetosentence
andevenparagraphtoparagraphcausingtheaudiencetobecomeconfusedaboutmypaper,
andthat'swhyibelieveirecievethatkindoffeedbackoften.Ialsowanttoimproveuponmy
transitionsnotonlybetweenparagraphs,butworkonmakingmysentenceslesssporadicand
randomwheniamwriting.Ithinkicanimproveuponthisbycreatingoutlinesandmultiple
roughdraftsbeforewritingthefinalcopy.IThinkbrainstormingandoutliningallowsyoutobetter
anticipatewhereyourpaperneedstogobeforewritingit,ratherthanwritingitontheflywhichis
whereithinkitendtogetintrouble.
OverallIplanoncontinuingtoworkonthosetwoaspectsaswellastheother3in
english250andfutureenglishclasses.Nextsemesteriamgoingtogotothewritingandmedia
helpcenterbeforeeachessayisdue,andallowthemtohelpmereviseandeditmypapers
beforeiturnthemin.IAlsobelieveifiallowmyselfmoretimetobrainstormandoutline,my
writingwillbecomemoreconciseandfocused.AstheyalwayssayEveryoneHastheir
StrengthsandWeaknessesandyoumustbecommittedtoexploringthoseweaknessesand
turningthoseintoyourstrengths,
