Students will gain a better understanding of how a strong core helps to enhance the ability of the rest of the body.
Special Planning/Preparations (i.e. safety concerns, etc.): Be careful of footing and aware of surroundings. Give enough time for the
student in front to get out of the way before proceeding onto the boxes. Take breaks when needed.

Time

Intro-Activity: Students will begin by jogging a lap


around the gym. They will then follow up with
calisthenic stretching.

5 Min

Warm-up: To begin, students will form a line and do 6


sets of boxes. 3 sets jumping on top, 3 sets jumping
over.

Adaptations/Modifications for Students


Diverse Needs

If a student cannot jump on top of the boxes,


they may do squat jumps on the side in place of
the boxes. If a student cannot jump over the
boxes but can make it on top, they may continue

jumping on top.

Rules: The students will grab a mat and find a spot on


the floor. The class will then begin to do an ab routine.

Activity: The routine the class will be doing will


consist of 50 crunches, 20 leg lifts, 50 side to side
oblique crunches, 50 rotating oblique crunches, 20 hip
raises, 30 in and outs, and 30 mason twists.

Ending Activity/Cool-down: To cool down, the class


will flip over onto their stomachs and begin to stretch
out their core to help with soreness.

Closure: After completing the lesson, the class will be


open for any remaining questions and comments.
