SIRENIK ESKIMO
By Lotus Psyche
It is not known when Sirenik Eskimo was born, but she was born in the settlements of
Sirenik, Imtuk, and some small villages stretching to the west from Sirenik along south-eastern
coasts of the Chukchi Peninsula ("Sirenik Eskimos Explained", 2016). Born to a family of
several, each sibling had a special gift granted to them by the spirt of the villages, Sireniks gift
was knowledge of the Chukchi culture. Sirenik is considered the third branch of the Eskimo
family ("Sirenik Eskimos Explained", 2016). Sirenik grew up to be a lovely lady with many
children. Sirenik died later on, but her spirit lived on until in January 1997, the last descendent of
hers, a woman named Vyie (Valentina Wye) died ("Sirenik Eskimos Explained", 2016).

The reason for this short story is to give a story about a language. In this short story there is a
language named the Sirenik Eskimo language. There was no clear data the stated when the
language was first introduced, but the language was among several in the settlements of Sirenik,
Imtuk, and some small villages stretching to the west from Sirenik along south-eastern coasts of
the Chukchi Peninsula ("Sirenik Eskimos Explained", 2016). Throughout the time that Sirenik
existed it was a prosperous language until the 20th century when the speakers began to decline
("Sirenik Eskimos Explained", 2016). Sadly, in January 1997, the last speaker of the Sirenik
Eskimo language, Valetina Wye died, and so did the language.
