Reading 1: friends

Frank and Melissa are very good friends.

They grew un together, they went to school together, and they went to the university together.
Now, Fran lives in Guatemala City, And Melissa lives in Miami. Even though they live far apart, they
are still very good friends. They write to each other every week. He writes her letters about his job,
and she writes him letters about life on Miami.
Las year he travelled to Miami and stayed there during three weeks. Frank and Melissa went to the
church together and after that, he went to a new restaurant where they were talking. Frank gave
her an advice about her new car and her new wmployee.
This year Melissa wants to be here in Guatemala and take vacations together. She wants to visit her
parents and some different places.
Fran and Melissa are still very good friends.

Lectura 1: amigos
Frank y Melissa son muy buenos amigos.
Crecieron las Naciones Unidas en conjunto, que fue a la escuela juntos, y fueron a la universidad
juntos.
Ahora, Fran vive en la ciudad de Guatemala, Y Melissa vive en Miami. A pesar de que viven lejos,
siguen siendo muy buenos amigos. Ellos escriben el uno al otro cada semana. l escribe sus cartas
sobre su trabajo, y ella le escribe cartas sobre la vida en Miami.
Las ao viaj a Miami y se mantuvo all durante tres semanas. Frank y Melissa fueron a la iglesia
juntos y despus de eso, se fue a un nuevo restaurante en el que estaban hablando. Frank le dio un
consejo sobre su nuevo coche y su nuevo empleado.
Este ao Melissa quiere estar aqu en Guatemala y se van de vacaciones juntos. Ella quiere visitar a
sus padres y algunos lugares diferentes.
Fran y Melissa siguen siendo muy buenos amigos.

Reading 2: The Estudents Excuses

Miss Maggie Anderson doesnt know what to do with her students today. They didnt do their
homework and she cant teach the new lesson.
Martha couldnt do her homework because her dog was sick. Katherine couldnt do her homework
because she was watching a TV program. Johnny couldnt his homework because he had no a
dictionary. Alberth couldnt do his homework because he went to the church. And all the other
students couldnt do their homework because there was a la blackout in the city last night.
All the students had excuses, but they promise Miss Maggie dont do it again. They learned that all
its important and specially their homework.

Lectura 2: Las excusas de Estudiantes

Maggie Anderson no sabe qu hacer con sus alumnos en la actualidad. Ellos no hacen su tarea y
ella no puede ensear la nueva leccin.
Martha no poda hacer su tarea debido a que su perro estaba enfermo. Katherine no poda hacer su
tarea porque ella estaba viendo un programa de televisin. Johnny no poda su tarea porque no
tena un diccionario. Alberth no poda hacer su tarea porque se fue a la iglesia. Y todos los otros
estudiantes no podan hacer sus tareas porque hubo un apagn de la ciudad en la ltima noche.
Todos los estudiantes tenan excusas, pero que prometen Maggie No hacerlo de nuevo. Se
enteraron de que todas Est especialmente importante y su tarea.

Reading 3: The shepherd and the wolf.

Many years ago some farmers had a large number of sheep but no shepherd to watch them. So
they taught a boy how to be a shepheard. They also told him to shout, Wolf! Wolf! And see the
farmers come running. The men arrived at once bot were not very pleased when the boy said he
had seen a wolf a mile away. The next afternoon the boy did the same and the farmers were very
angry.
The boy knew that the farmers would not come to help him again, so he laid a trap for the wolf. The
following day a real wolf appeared and when the boy shouted Wolf! Wolf
, the farmers went on
with their work and did not pay attention. However, our story has a happy ending. None of the
sheep were eaten and the wolf was caught in the trap.

Lectura 3: El pastor y el lobo.

Hace muchos aos, algunos agricultores tenan un gran nmero de ovejas sin pastor, pero para
verlas. Por lo que les ensea a un nio cmo ser un pastor. Tambin le dijeron que gritar, Wolf!
Lobo! Y ver los agricultores vienen corriendo. Los hombres llegaron a la vez bot no estaban muy
contentos cuando el nio dijo que haba visto un lobo una milla de distancia. La tarde siguiente, el
muchacho hizo lo mismo y los agricultores eran muy enojado.
El muchacho saba que los agricultores no vendran a ayudarlo de nuevo, por lo que puso una
trampa para el lobo. Al da siguiente un verdadero lobo apareci y cuando el nio grit "lobo! Wolf,
los agricultores continu con su trabajo y no prest atencin. Sin embargo, nuestra historia tiene un
final feliz. Ninguna de las ovejas fueron comidos y el lobo fue atrapado en la trampa.
