Portfolio Artifact Description: Web Launchpad - Word processing document with a set
of multiple hyperlinks to educational websites.
What you learned: Working with very young children it has taught me to be patient but
not patient enough to try and help a class of 30, 2nd grade students type out lengthy
URLs. With this project I was able to reach out to fellow teachers Ive worked in the past
to get some ideas as to what websites would be helpful for my age group. I found plenty
of websites with a great range for grade levels. In addition I was able to create a very
user-friendly web launchpad with great graphics and hyperlinks. All websites used for
this projects have been approved by and used in CCSD classrooms.

Standards #1, #2 and #3 for teachers. Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter,

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: The Truss Bridge project is a diverse
project that can be adapted so it implemented in different areas of the curriculum. Under
math, they practice their knowledge of angles, measurement and symmetry. It can also be
adapted to help students create 3-D structures by using this project as a blueprint. The 3D structure can be used to teach the student the importance of strength and stability. In
addition to that, due to 3-D being more complex it can be turned into it a partner or group
project. Whenever there is a group project it helps students with their social and
communication skills. In computers studies and English they practice their online
research methods.
