Instead of solving a problem, this

piece exaggerates the anomaly of

the low window in the 2nd floor
mezzanine of Lawrence Hall by
forcing the user to notice how they
must bend down to see outside.

“The best way to remember something

is to be aware of its absence.”

Its ergonomic indentations show

where a human body should be.
These traces very specifically
signify how the user can kneel,
stand and touch their toes, or do a
side-bend to access the certain
storage compartments specific to
each motion. Each of the three
movements elicits a view straight
outside. The strict dictation of
physical interaction with the piece
heightens the user’s awareness of
how they must contort their own
body to use the piece and to see
outsdoors, therefore calling
attention to the simple and
otherwise passive action of bending
over.
