Vapor Belt distributor is intended to uniformly distribute the vapor around the tube

bundle and therefore reduce the excessively large pressure drops and vibration and
erosion problems encountered at the vapor inlet end. The shell is extended
underneath the vapor nozzle thereby acting as an impingement baffle. Usually, the
extended shell within the vapor belt distributor has slots cut around the periphery in
order to introduce the vapor into the tube field from all angles. In this case, the
open end of the shell shown in the diagram is not needed. The vapor belt distributor
is a relatively expensive construction option but is particularly useful where
pressure drop may be a critical consideration.
