History-Social Science Reflection

To teach history-social science, I will need to present historic

information in an exciting, interesting, and unbiased way. I will do this by
using journals, letters, and other forms of literatures in my lesson plans. I
must also be able to connect current events, laws, and people to the past so
that students understand that history is vast and connected. Teachers
should poses geography, economic, and local history.
My artifacts are personal reflections from History 301. The reflections
are writings by me commenting and analyzing events throughout history
using primary sources. I chose these artifacts because they demonstrate the
benefits of using primary sources. The reflections are also based on journals,
diaries, and letters and I feel I got a deeper understanding of past events
from reading these sources. These artifacts show my understanding and
preparedness to teach history. I will use primary sources in my classroom as
a way to enhance the lesson.
The LBS classes for history-social science used ideas from the
framework. All the classes built off of prior knowledge and used that
knowledge to enhance different points throughout history. Some classes
focused on specific events in time while others spanned hundreds of years.
The courses presented information in a clear, chronological order and the
different projects made learning fun and engaging.
