ABSTRACT
Background. Low Back Pain ( LBP ) is a pain syndrome that occurs in the lower
back region which is the result of various causes . This disorder most commonly
found in the workplace , especially in those who work with the wrong body posture.
The agricultural sector is one of the types of jobs that has high risk for workers ,
because while the farmers are doing their activity they often bending and twisting
their body by using the back as the main support.
Purpose . This study aims to determine the influence of body posture in work and
other factors that cause Low Back Pain ( LBP)s complaint on Farmers in Cibadar ,
Cilebar Village , Karawang Regency 2014 .
Research Methodology. This research is a quantitative descriptive and cross
sectional design which use a questionnaire to interview and observation in a choosen
posture that will be analyzed using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment ( REBA).
Statsistics using the chi square test . This study was held on 14th-16th October 2014 .
The samples are 99 farmers .
Results. Results obtained complaint of Low Back Pain (LBP) is felt by 83 farmers
(83.8 %) and there is a significant relationship between body posture in work with
complaints of Low Back Pain ( LBP ) . Based on REBA analyzed , the score is 8,
which is a high-risk category to complaints of Low Back Pain ( LBP ) . Age, lenght
of working and periode of working had a significant relationship with complaint of
Low Back Pain (LBP). p value are 0,001, 0.03 and 0.000 and OR are 6.4, 3.33 and
9.38 (p < 0.05) .
Conclusion . Wrong body posture in work or non ergonomic body posture play an
important role on the risk of Low Back Pain (LBP)s complaint .
