Dorothea Lange

Dorothea Lange was a photographer. Dorothea was

born on May 26th, 1895. She decided to become a
photographer after high school. Dorothea studied
photography at Columbia University. She photographed
people who were unemployed and sometimes
homeless. She also took photos of migrant workers,
people who work outside of their home country.
Dorothea showed the world the faces of people who
used the Works Progress Administration (WPA). This
was important because she helped people understand
how hard life could be, and how important work and jobs
were. Her photographs are black and white, she used a
film camera, which can be hard to use to take
photographs and make prints.
