sinner.AsmuchastheplaytriestoshowProctortobeasinnerhehassomegoodinhim,maybe
eventhemostfromanyone.Proctorproveshimselftobeasaintandnotasinnerintheplay
becauseofhisheroicways.JohnProctorisasaintbecauseheconfessesforadultery,confesses
tobeawitch,andtriestoproveAbigailwrongandhelpsavethetown.Proctorisexecutedfor
hisactions,buthisexecutionisntjust.
First,JohnProctordidsomethingwrong,buthadlaterconfessedforit,whichmadehim
looklikeasaint,heconfessesforadultery.Committingadulteryisasin,buttoclearhisnamehe
willconfesshiswrongdoingsinthissin.JohnProctorinthecourtroomtryingtoproveAbigailis
fakingbeingawitch,heconfesseshedidhavesomehistorywithAbigailtodiscredither:God

ProctorconfesseswithhavingrelationswithAbigailandthatAbigailistryingtoruinthe

hadruinedthemboth.DanforthhadaskedElizabethtotellthetruthifJohnhadevercheatedon
