Greetings,
I am writing in order to introduce myself and explain what I hope to gain from a semester in your
classroom.
This Fall marks my senior year at Colorado State University. Although I am not a Colorado
native, I have fallen in love with all aspects of my new home. I am always looking for
suggestions on exciting hikes, so please let me know if you have any favorites. My interest in
education was sparked while I was a high school student in Tennessee. Although I am learning
that educating is an extremely challenging profession, the benefits continue to outweigh the
negatives.
In previous stages of the education program, I have learned various aspects of the profession. I
have had brief experience writing lesson plans that are based on Colorado Department of
Education standards. I have also had experience implementing technology within all lessons and
homework with my students. Earlier classes have introduced me to instructing ELLs, but this
information has only been implemented in theory; I have not yet had the chance to practice these
strategies.
During my time in your classroom, I hope to gain confidence in my instruction. I have had very
little experience with this specific age of students, so I am excited to see how they respond to my
teaching. I also hope to develop more strategies on how to assess my students. In my instruction,
we have discussed formative assessment, but I am unsure how often and how I should implement
these assessments to my students. I am excited to see how you check for understanding with your
students.
I am very excited to be able to gain experience in such a highly revered institution as Fort Collins
High School. It has been explained that your schools stance on education is both supportive to
the learner and welcoming to curriculum advancement; I am very thrilled to have an opportunity
to see Fort Collins in action.
Respectfully,
Genevieve Adams
