Combined Sounds
To make combined sounds, always use the in combination with an sound of
any of the hiragana. The initial sound is written as a standard size symbol, while the

Small Tsu
The small changes the way we say a word. Instead of being even on every syllable, there
is a small jump in the word. When it is written, the small doubles the next letter always
a consonant. For example; yokatta is written and is written hoppe.

combined sounds. Remember to write it smaller, so that it is not mistaken for a normal .
