waytotranscendorcrosstheseborders.BorderscanbeLocal,National,orGlobal.Anexampleof
alocalbordercanbetheistheoutlookofOsbornetotherestofthecommunity,butthepeople

Ourprogramshelpprovepeoplewrongshowthemthatwearenotwhatgoesoninour
community.Showingthatwearentwhatoursurroundingcommunityiscrossingourborderof
beingjudgedassomethingthatwearentasaschool.Ilearnedthatwecancrossnegative
bordersbetweenourschoolandourcommunitybyshowingthatwecandopositiveactivities
justlikeschoolssuchasHillgrove,Lassiter,Popeetc.

Anotherexampleofhowourschoolwasabletobegantocrossthesenegativeborders
wasthroughourWeAreOsborneInstagrampage.MyAPLanguageclassdecidedto
showcasepositiveattributesofthepeopleofourschool.Wewereabletoshowcasemany
differentinfluentialpeopleatOsborneandtheirstories.Weweretoldtotakeapictureof
someoneattheschoolinthecafeteria,inaclassroom,oranywherearoundtheschool.Wewere
thentoldtoaskthepersonaquestionsuchas,Whatwasyourbiggestobstacleenteringhigh
school?,wethentookquotesfromthepeoplesstoriesanduploadedthemtotheInstagram.
ThroughthisassignmentIwasabletoshowexploredifferentpeoplespersonalitiesandstories.
IwasabletospeaktopeopleIneverknewwereasfriendlyandoutgoing.Theassignment
openedmyeyesaboutthepeopleinmyschool,andlearntonotjudgebooksbythecover.
IlearnedthroughAPLanguagedifferentobstaclesthatpeopleindifferentcountries.
PeopleincountrieslikeSyriagothroughmanythingswithrefugeecampsandtryingtoleave
theirhomecountriesforsafety.Manytimesthisendsindeathaspeopletrytocrossseas.I
learnedthatmyproblemsarenotasbigasIthinktheyare.Peopleinothercountriesaregoing
throughthingssuchasdeathoffamilymembers,politicalinjustice,andsocialrightsthatare
unjust.ExploringthesedifferentbordersIwasabletolookattheworldinadifferentway.
Seeingthingsthatpeopleinotherhavetodealwithreallyopenedmyeyeson
problemsinour
world.Inowamfullyawareofthedifferentthings.
