Weekly Highlights
This week in reading workshop, we reviewed appropriate
ways to ask and answer questions about key details in
nonfiction text. Then we joined in our new nonfiction
book clubs to dive deeper into learning about key details
and learned more about how to ask specific questions to
learn more about a text.

Human life cycle project (more information

attached)- Due Thursday, May 19th

In writing workshop, we conducted our another

experiment to learn more about forces of motion. With
this experiment we completed another lab report like
real-life scientists. We focused on writing detailed results
and conclusion sections to really express the findings of
our experiment.
In word study, we continued to learn more about
controlled r words and the digraph oo. To learn these
words we played a variety of word building games and
activities both individually and in small groups.
For math this week, we began learning more about 2D
shapes. We learned how to create 2D shapes using
different manipulatives, combined shapes to make new
shapes, solved story problems using what we know, and
even went on a shape hunt to discover the many
shapes around us! Ask your child what the know about
the shape vocabulary words curved, straight, open, and
closed.
In science, we continued our learning on a plants life
cycle. This week we conducted a seed experiment to
learn more about a seed and how a plant starts its life
before moving into observing the two plants we planted
last week each day and recording what we see in our
plant journals.
