ABSTRACT
The growth of global economy is effecting the fuel
consumtion in industrial and transportation sector. As describe in
Kyoto protocol, 1997 every country must monitoring the emission
gas as CO2. Therefore many absorbtion technology were developed
like physical absorbtion or chemical absorbtion. The common
material that used in absorbtion process is K2CO3 solution with
different kind of promoter. In recent rear Methyldieltanolamine
(MDEA) solution with Piperazine (PZ) is widely used for
absorbtion process. Unfortunately the study of mathematical
modeling absorbtion CO2 with MDEA is not many. Therefore this
research objective is to develop the mathematical modeling of CO2
absorbtion using MDEA solution with PZ promoter in packed
column, and validating the model with plant data, and study the
effect of operating variable in absorbtion rate. The mathematical
model is based on mass transfer process in film theory with pseudo
first order reaction assumion. Numerical solution solution in this
research is using Kolokasi Orthogonal Methode.
The rate of absorption increases with the increase in the
average temperature of the solution due to the increase in
temperature there is an increase in the value of kinetic constant of
the reaction. Increased pressure can increase the solubility of the
gas column thus increasing the rate of absorption. Increased flow
rate of lean and semilean can increase the rate of absorption.

Increasing the concentration of promoter can significantly increase

%removal, but if the promoter concentration increased
continuously %removal tends to be constant.
