Management of the immediate post operative open heart surgery patient.
Typical devices required to care for this patient population included ventilators, PA
catheters,Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), Intra Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), arterial lines,
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
(ECMO).
Extensive hemodynamic monitoring and titration of certain vasoactive drips was required.
Management of patients undergoing hypothermic protocol was also required.
Preceptor for newly hired staff.

Registered Nurse - Sumner Regional Medical Center- ICU

May 2005 to August 2010
Administered IV medications, started peripheral IVs, managed central venous/arterial lines and
swan ganz catheters.
Monitored and cared for patients receiving mechanical ventilation, IABP support and CRRT.
