SPECIAL CASE WITH TWO INPUTS Consider The case where there is an input to both the inverting and non-inverting terminals: yt T ‘The inputs to the inverting and non- inverting terminals are as shown: Vows Output/v time The initial positive part of the square wave output arises from the first part of the input voltages OA Where the input to the+ve terminal is greater than that of the ~ve terminal, resulting in a +ve output. After that, the input on the -ve terminal becomes greater than that on the #ve terminal(ABC] so the output is -ve i.e. inverted. From C to D the output will always be positive because firstly the magnitude of the input voltage on the +ve terminal is gréater than that on the ~ve terminal. Secondly, when the magnitude of the input voltage on the -ve terminal is greater than that on the +4ve terminal, the output is still positive because now the input on the inverting terminal is ~ve so the ‘output will be inverted to a +ve value. 136
