pointsoutthatmanyauthorsdonotinflictthemisappropriatedviewsofblacks
purposely,rathertheywritethroughalensethattheymaynotfullyunderstandandthe
writingthattheydoisbecauseofthelackofknowledgeandunderstandingofwhat
reallyoccurswithintheblackculture.Africanism,especiallyinAmericanliteraturehas
beenusedtoobjectifyandstereotypethoseofnonwhitedescent.Throughher
inspectionofMarkTwainandHenryDunbarshelooksattheirwritingsfortheAfricanist
presenceoftheircharacters.
