The document discusses how two stories, "Guns for General Washington" and "Chains", relate to actual historical events during the American Revolutionary War period based on shared timeline elements. Key events that occurred in both the stories and real history include the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 and the Battle of Princeton in January 1777. While the characters and their dialog in the stories are fictional, the timeline of broader military campaigns and political developments they take place against match real world events during this time period.

The events in the stories and the timeline happened at
about the same time. While the men in Guns for General Washington (gfgw) where with the artillery, Isabel was working for her masters. Since the timeline and the stories happen at the same time, while something is happening in one of the stories, so many things are happening in the background. The relationship between the stories and the timeline is also that if something happens in one of the stories or the timeline it might affect something that happens in one of the stories or timeline. In Chains one of the titles was July 4,1776. This chapter is about independance day which happened in the timeline. In Chains Curzon went off to battle. The battle that he fought in actually happened in real history. Since gfgw is written mainly on what really happened most of it actually happened. The war effort was struggling and soldiers really needed artillery if they were going to win the war. They way the book gfgw was written and its timeline are really similar to a real historical timeline. The only thing that was fictional was the lives of the soldiers. They did camp out the nights with the artillery but we dont really know exactly what they were saying at the time. While the events in Chains were happening, on May 2,1776 France and Spain agreed to give the American rebels weapons. On August 10,1776 word of U.S. Declaration of Independance just reaches London. On September 10,1776 George Washington asks for a volunteer spy. Nathan Hale volunteers. On September 12,1776 Nathan Hale leaves Harlem Heights Camp for a mission. On January 3,1777 Washingtons army defeats the British army forces at the Battle of Princeton, NJ. This is how real history is linked to these books. Sources:Chains By Laurie Halse Anderson.
