Importance of Education on UV-Induced Melanoma Rates

Hannah Goldstein

If you could stop one of the most fata forms of cancer, why wouldnt you? Melanoma, the most
fatal form of cancer, has been proven to be directly correlated to UV exposure. However, through
evidence-based education targeted towards adolescents, the Melanoma rates can be reduced due
to increased protection. In addition, lack of education of sun protective practices has allowed
skin damage and resulting Melanoma to become more predominant. Finally, furthering education
about the environment has increased the overall knowledge base on UV-induced Melanoma
which can in turn reduce Melanoma rates.
