INT. SITTING ROOM BLOOM HOUSEHOLD - MORNING

LINCOLN and MRS. BLOOM walks into the sitting room in a nice
new, renovated house. The two sit down on chairs.
LINCOLN
I’d like to thank you for letting
me come talk to you Mrs. Bloom.
MRS. BLOOM
Of course Detective, you have
something regarding my
daughter’s…..incident right?
LINCOLN
I do, yes. We caught the man who
did it.
LINCOLN lays a picture down of the MAN from earlier. MRS.
BLOOM looks down at it and puts her hand over her face in
shock.
MRS. BLOOM
Father Todd? Oh my God, do you know
how many times we left him alone
with Meghan for confession? For the
church choir? Oh my, my poor baby.
MRS. BLOOM begins to break down into tears. LINCOLN frowns a
little bit and picks up a couple of tissues from the box next
to him, passing them to MRS. BLOON.
LINCOLN
Father Todd, did he work at the
school Meghan went to?
MRS. BLOOM
Ye-...yes he did. The...the school
was partially owned by the
church..Oh my God, my poor Meghan.

MRS. BLOOM wipes her eyes until she stops for a second,
thinking and looks back up to LINCOLN.
MRS. BLOOM (CONT’D)
Was Meghan the only child taken by
Father Todd?
3.

LINCOLN crosses his eyebrows, looking up to MRS. BLOOM and

nods once.
LINCOLN
Yes, why?
MRS. BLOOM
Well...about two years ago now,
sniffs one of Meghan’s friends from
school, Henry went missing and was
never found again. Some believed
that maybe...that maybe someone had
taken him. Could it have been
Father Todd?
LINCOLN
Maybe, it could have been. What was
this boy’s full name?
MRS. BLOOM
Henry Rollins. The poor Rollins
family have been through so much,
first Henry and then Stacey was
almost killed.
MRS. BLOOM puts her hand over her head and shakes it.
MRS. BLOOM (CONT’D)
What a crazy world we live in.

LINCOLN
Mrs. Bloom, has Meghan mentioned
anything about what happened? Did
she say anything about a golden eye
or maybe the name ‘Balor’?
MRS. BLOOM
No..she hasn’t said a thing about
the incident. I can hardly get an
answer from her when I ask about
dinner.
LINCOLN
I understand. I’m sorry for what
happened to you and your daughter
Mrs. Bloom, I really am. Call for
Detective Lincoln at the Garda
Station if you need me. I’ll do
whatever I can.
MRS. BLOOM nods once to him as he stands up and walks to the
door, opening it.

INT. LINCOLN'S CAR - MORNING

LINCOLN speeds down a road in his car, smoking a cigarette.
The car is silent and he looks to be in deep thought.
Suddenly his radio bursts into sound.
RADIO
Detective Lincoln, Detective
Lincoln respond.
LINCOLN picks up the speaker from the radio.
LINCOLN (ON RADIO)
Yeah.
RADIO
Detective Lincoln, please return to
Ballina station. One of your
suspects, Oliver Todd, has died in
prison, over.
LINCOLN widens his eyes a bit and shakes his head, biting his
lip.
LINCOLN
10-4.
CUT TO:

INT. INFIRMARY - MORNING

FATHER TODD lays in bed, tubes attached to his mouth in the
infirmary. His machine slowly stops beeping and flat lines.
PETERS, and a GARD stand near the bed. The door to the
infirmary opens and in rushes, LINCOLN as he stares over TODD
and approaches the group.

LINCOLN
How the fuck did this happen?
PETERS
He got into a brawl in the courts,
someone stabbed him.
GARD
People found out about his charges,
someone killed him for it I guess.
LINCOLN
Right, I want to see the CCTV
footage of that yard.
5.

GARD
No can do, the CCTV camera’s were
broken a few weeks back. They need
to be installed.
LINCOLN wipes his head and puts his hands on his hips.
LINCOLN
What about the guards? Who was on
duty?
GARD
Uh, Joseph Kaplan was the main guy
watching over. He tried to stop it
but he was too late to stop Todd
getting stabbed.
LINCOLN
Right, I want to see his background
history along with anything else on
his record. Got it?
GARD
Alright then.
The GARD shrugs and leaves towards the door. PETERS looks to
LINCOLN and throws his hands out.
PETERS
What’s the big deal towards Kaplan?
A couple of inmates heard about
Todd and killed him for it. It’s
shitty that we couldn’t get a
conviction on Todd but it makes
sense that he’d get killed. What
makes it relate to a guard?
LINCOLN
It’s all bullshit Chris, nobody
should have found out about his
charges. Not a day after he got put
inside, Todd wouldn’t tell anyone.
Only other way is through a guard.
C’mon, follow me. We’ve got
something we need to look into.
CUT TO:

INT. FILE ROOM - MORNING

LINCOLN is standing on a ladder against a huge stack of
files. PETERS stands down on the ground, watching him.
6.

PETERS
What is it? What you got?
LINCOLN
A missing child, Henry Rollins.
PETERS
I ain’t heard of any missing
children by that name.
LINCOLN
It was two years ago.
PETERS
Why are you looking into it now
then?
LINCOLN
Connects with that Todd case, the
boy was a friend of Meghan.

PETERS
Listen Mike, we’ve got enough
things to do right now than look
through old cases. Todd got killed
in prison and it’s left at that.
LINCOLN
Fuck, it’s not in here.
PETERS
What?
LINCOLN
Missing persons. Hm, let’s go speak
to the family. They must know
something.
LINCOLN walks towards the door, PETERS is about to speak but
shakes his head and follows LINCOLN out.
CUT TO:

INT. PETERS' CAR - MORNING

LINCOLN sits in the passenger seat and looks through a file
as PETERS drives. He is clearly agitated and constantly
glances over at LINCOLN.
PETERS
Look, you’re not still on that
whole the Devil killer is still out
there are you?
7.

LINCOLN
Todd mentioned a golden eye Chris,
he mentioned Balor.
PETERS
Look at the picture, there is no
golden eye. It’s probably a ritual
thing like you said before.
Balor…sighs must have been a
codename Beasley used. The case is
dead now, Morgan’s dead, Hazel was
nowhere to be found and we got the
killer. What else do you think
there is?
LINCOLN
You ever think back to the case
Chris? I do…
PETERS sighs and shakes his head. LINCOLN stares out the
window.
PETERS
No, I can move on and I have enough
things to do right now as it is.
LINCOLN
You ever think about how quick the
Fintan Squad was to get all the
evidence and get involved in the
case?
PETERS
No, no. Don’t go there Mike, don’t
go there. You’re trying to...
you’re trying to say that the
Fintan Squad framed up Beasley for
the Devil killer? Why would they do
that?
LINCOLN
Fame, calm the village, popularity.
Who knows, fact is that the Fintan
Squad was the one who came up with
all the evidence. We were
practically kicked out of the
church crime scene.
PETERS
Like I said before, the killings
stopped after we convicted Beasley.
That and all the proof make it
enough in my book.
8.

LINCOLN
What if they didn’t stop Chris?
What if they’ve all gone under the
radar. Hm..
LINCOLN rubs his fingers together as he stares out the
window. PETERS clearly doesn’t agree with LINCOLN and
continues to drive.
PETERS
So what, these missing kids. You
starting to say that the Devil
killer is a child molestor too?
I’ve heard of all kinds of fucked
up, but that just sounds like
you’re sticking two things
together.
LINCOLN
I don’t know what it is, but I’m
going to find out. Sooner or later.
LINCOLN exhales and looks down at his files.
CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN,ROLLINS HOUSEHOLD - MORNING

MR. ROLLINS sits in a cheap chair in an old, dirty kitchen.
LINCOLN and PETERS stand above him, talking.
LINCOLN
About when did your son go missing
two years ago?
MR. ROLLINS
I think it was...three, maybe four
thirty. He was supposed to come
back from a birthday party. It was
his cousin’s.
LINCOLN
He was last seen there?
MR. ROLLINS
Yeah..he was at the party, having a
great time. Y’know, clowns, movies,
food, cake, whatever and was going
to walk home with friends...but for
some reason, he didn’t go with him.
LINCOLN
Why not?
9.

MR. ROLLINS
Don’t know, he said he had
something else to do, said he had a
‘game’ to play. Christ, I never
should have let him go…
MR. ROLLINS’ eyes fill with tears and he takes a sip from his
bottle of beer.
PETERS
You file a police report?
MR. ROLLINS
Twice, the first one I sent in
almost two days after he went
missing. I spoke with a Gard, he
told me he’d look. Then I heard
nothing….nothing for two
months..that’s when I sent the
second one in. I got nothing from
that..My wife, she sent one into a
Special Detectives Unit on the
borders of the village.

LINCOLN
That Gard, he said he’d set up a
search party?
MR. ROLLINS
He said he would...but I never
heard anything from it.
PETERS
What was the Gard’s name?
MR. ROLLINS
O’Donnell, O’Donald? Something with
an O’.
LINCOLN nods slowly as he takes things down in his journal.
LINCOLN
Henry, he went to Tranquility
Elementary that right?
MR. ROLLINS
That’s right...it was owned by a
church I think. Yeah...set up by
that Judas Norman fella.
LINCOLN raises his head a bit and looks to PETERS who stares
back at him. LINCOLN write down into his journal.
10.

MR. ROLLINS (CONT’D)

My poor Henry...I never heard from
him again. All I remember is,
after...after his mother left I
started to hear things. See
things...I felt like I could hear
him in the woods...I went out all
the time and called his name...met
with nothing but silence..

MR. ROLLINS breaks down into tears as he leans down, covering

his face with his hand.

CUT TO:

EXT. ROLLINS HOUSEHOLD - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN and PETERS leave the ROLLINS household and approach

PETERS’ car.

LINCOLN
Two kids go missing from the same
school owned by Judas Norman..

PETERS
Stop it, just..just stop it
alright?

LINCOLN turns to PETERS and looks at him.

PETERS (CONT’D)
I know what you’re doing, you’re
trying to tell me that Judas Norman
was in on the children’s
disappearances.

LINCOLN
You said it not me.
PETERS
Norman is a pillar of this county,
he’s built all types of schools and
churches all over it. Soon enough,
he’ll be a pillar of this whole
country.
LINCOLN
Oh yeah I forgot, the great Norman
is going for Taoiseach.
PETERS
And is winning in the runnings too.
11.

The two reach the car and hop into the front seats.

INT. PETERS CAR - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN sits down in the seat and opens up his notepad,

looking through it.
PETERS
So what now?

LINCOLN
Let’s check out that Special
Detective’s Unit. They must have
something on the case of their own.
PETERS nods lightly and turns on the engine. LINCOLN slips
out his pack of cigarettes.

PETERS
Look Mike, after this. I’m done
alright? We’re chasing old, missing
persons. If they couldn’t find them
all the way back, we won’t find
them now. And the fact you’re
trying to link it to a serial
killer is stretching.
LINCOLN
I thought you had my back?

PETERS
I do, but this. This whole,
whatever. Case? It’s nothing. A
waste of our time, touching the
past when we should be focused on
the present and future.
LINCOLN shakes his head and lights up his cigarette. PETERS
revs the car and drives forward.
CUT TO:

INT. DETECTIVE OFFICES, SPECIAL DETECTIVE UNIT - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN and PETERS are sitting at a desk in an office. It is
clearer and more decorated than the Ballina Garda Station. A
Detective, DET. DOMINIC HYDE, 40’s, plump, curly hair sits
across from them.
12.

DET. HYDE
Yeah, yeah I know what case you’re
talking about. We looked into that
two years back.

LINCOLN
You make much progress?
DET. HYDE
Mmm no, well not really. We didn’t
even get to start.
PETERS
What do you mean?
DET. HYDE
Before we could start, your bosses
were already bringing hell down on
ours. Telling us to let you guys
handle it. After that, we just let
the case go. What, you guys didn’t
get the memo?
LINCOLN
Who told you not to get involved?
DET. HYDE
McMann and uh, Judas Norman wasn’t
it? Yeah that’s it. They came
pretty quick, usually you’d maybe
get talks a week after. But it was
a day after we started.
LINCOLN
That all that happened?
DET. HYDE
Mostly, although his sister had
some problems we think might have
linked to Henry.
PETERS
What, somebody tried to take her?
DET. HYDE
Yeah, I got the casefile pulled for
you guys. Here.
HYDE lifts up a casefile and passes it over to the duo.
LINCOLN opens it up and begins to read through it.
13.

DET. HYDE (CONT’D)

She said a man with red hair, bits
of red, blue and white on his face
chased after her. She described a
large grin, we think it might have
been scars because it was unhumanly
big. Tried to get her but she
escaped. That’s what she described
on the next page.
LINCOLN lifts up a page and looks under it at the drawing. A
big head with red hair, a very large grin and bits of red,
blue, white over his face.
LINCOLN
You guys put out a BOLO or a search
party around for him?
DET. HYDE
We tried to but I mean, just look
at the picture. Poor girl couldn’t
describe so clearly, she was so
shaken up.
PETERS
What happened to her?
DET. HYDE
Meh, word is now she’s working at
some pub in the village. The Rose
Tavern I think.
LINCOLN
Det. Hyde, did you ever get more
missing kids cases over the years?
DET. HYDE
A few I think, nothing connecting
to the Rollins’ kids though. Why?
LINCOLN
Just wondering…
CUT TO:

INT. PETERS' CAR - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN sits in the passenger seat and looks over the picture
HYDE gave him. PETERS has his eyes fixed on the road.
LINCOLN
What you think Chris?
14.

PETERS
I think..it’s an excessive picture
given by a shaken up, scared young
girl.
LINCOLN
Some bits might be exagerrated but
some is true. Why you think he has
all the colours on his face?
PETERS
He’s a painter, worker, cross-
dresser I don’t know. And I don’t
care either, the case is old now.
LINCOLN
It still matters, these kids dealt
with Balor, Chris. They met him.
PETERS
How you know it’s him? What about
the golden eye? To me, that picture
has normal eyes.
LINCOLN
Hm, I don’t know. But I’m going to
find out what.
PETERS looks over at LINCOLN and shakes his head, rolling his
eyes.
PETERS
Whatever Mike. I’m going to get
some coffee, you want to get some?
LINCOLN
No, you can drop me off at the
station.

PETERS
Fine.
CUT TO:

EXT. GARDA STATION - AFTERNOON

PETERS’ car pulls into the Garda Station’s carpark. Out gets
LINCOLN who walks inside.
CUT TO:
15.

INT. DETECTIVE OFFICES - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN sits at his desk as he stares down at a file, lit

cigarette in hand. He sits back in his chair and slowly
exhales smoke out of his mouth as he reads through it. It is
the file on ALAN BEASLEY’S arrest. He slowly reads through it
before finally closing it.
Up walks PETERS, coffee in hand as he approaches his desk.
PETERS
Hey, still here? I went for coffee
LINCOLN
It’s been an hour? Hm, I’ve just
been sitting here and thinking…
PETERS
Yeah well, it’s time to stop
thinking and start working. We’ve
got a case, a breaking and
entering. Let’s go, c’mon.
LINCOLN
Nah, I’ve got something to do. You
go run with it.
PETERS
Alright..
LINCOLN picks up his files and turns, leaving for the exit.
PETERS watches him leave and sighs lightly, sitting at his
desk.
CUT TO:

EXT. BEASLEY HOUSEHOLD - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN bangs on the door of the BEASLEY household. Nothing,
no answer. LINCOLN sighs and bangs on the door again. The
front door opens, the door is open ajar and behind it is
DAISY BEASLEY, 50’s, glasses, blonde hair.
LINCOLN
Mrs. Beasley? Uh hello, my name is-
.
DAISY BEASLEY
Detective Lincoln, yes I know you.
You and your pals put my husband in
jail.
16.

LINCOLN
Yeah, I’d like to discuss that.
DAISY BEASLEY
I don’t have anything to say to you
corrupt, little shitheads. Leave me
alone.
DAISY begins to close the door, LINCOLN raises his hand and
stops it.
LINCOLN
I know your husband is innocent
ma’am. I know the Devil killer is
still out there.
DAISY squints at him before she peaks behind him and opens
the door.
DAISY BEASLEY
Come in.
DAISY opens the door wide, LINCOLN walks inside. DAISY peaks
her head out and looks around quickly before closing the door
behind her.
CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN, BEASLEY HOUSEHOLD - LATE AFTERNOON

LINCOLN sits at a table in the kitchen. DAISY is filling up
some cups with tea. LINCOLN lays a file out on the desk.
DAISY BEASLEY
My husband was a key member in
Integrity Ireland.
LINCOLN
Yes, I remember that.
DAISY BEASLEY
He was a good man, he fought to end
corruption in this county. He was
the strongest bastard I’ve ever
seen.
LINCOLN
Mhm.
DAISY BEASLEY
So strong, but so moronic at the
same time..
17.

LINCOLN
What makes you say that?
DAISY picks up the two cups and turns, laying them down onto
the table. She pulls out a seat and sits down.
DAISY BEASLEY
A couple of weeks before he was
arrested, he came across a little
girl. Her name was Emma Thomas, she
was missing for a couple of weeks.
A runaway or something. Anyway,
Alan was driving home from work and
he found her out on the side of the
road. He brought her to a hospital,
poor kid had serious internal
damage.
LINCOLN
Like what?
DAISY BEASLEY
Her stomach, her throat...her
vagina. It was horrible, she was
raped. Eight years old and she was
already raped...I can’t believe
this village, I just can’t.
LINCOLN
They find who did it?
DAISY BEASLEY
Alan said Judas Norman tried to
cover it up. He said he saw him
talking with a nurse about her and
was asking to keep it all quiet.
LINCOLN raises his head up a bit, he takes a sip of his tea.
DAISY BEASLEY (CONT’D)
He freaked out and called out
Judas, saying he was going to ruin
his career. He went to Integrity
Ireland and was planning to build a
case, to sue Judas. Soon after he
started it, he was arrested.
LINCOLN
The shed, the fingerprints. What
about that?
DAISY BEASLEY
All that? Pfft, that was nothing
but a frame up.
18.

DAISY BEASLEY (CONT’D)

Couple of construction guys who
built our shed must have planted
it.
LINCOLN
That’s a bit far fetched.
DAISY BEASLEY
It’s the truth.
LINCOLN nods his head lightly.
LINCOLN
What happened to the little girl?

DAISY BEASLEY
She got locked up in an
institution. Ocean View Institute I
think. Poor girl couldn’t speak at
all, no one knows her or what
happened to her. She’s never said a
word.
CUT TO:

EXT. MORGAN’S HOUSE - EVENING

LINCOLN’s car pulls up onto the curb outside of the MORGAN’s
household. The house looks to be the same since it was last
left. Although the windows are all locked up and blinds
pulled down. A rotting “For Sale” sign stands outside the
house, it blows in the wind.
LINCOLN opens his door and steps out. His foot hits the
gravel makes a cracking sound which goes along with the
growing winds. The clouds are dark and gloomy. LINCOLN closes
the door to his car and holds a file under his arm. He slowly
approaches the front of the house, his feet kicking the
gravel. He stares in at the Morgan’s household in silence.
His tie flying around from the winds.
LINCOLN steps forward towards the gate and opens it, walking
inside. He walks along the gravel and looks down to the
ground, recent tire tracks run up the driveway. LINCOLN
crosses his eyebrows and bends down, staring at it for a
second. He looks along the tracks and looks back up to the
house. The grey sky begins to roar in the background.
MAN
You buying that house?
LINCOLN turns his head around and looks to the MAN, 60’s,
dirty, homeless. He shakes his head.
19.

LINCOLN
No.
MAN
Hmpf, you own of those suit guys
who always come around here then?
LINCOLN stands up, approaching the gate. He eyes the man.
LINCOLN
What suit guys?
MAN
Those men in black guys, working
for the government who always come
around. I don’t know.
LINCOLN squints at the man before looking back at the house.
MAN (CONT’D)
Thought you were one of them, ah
well. Nevermind then. I best get
going, a storm’s coming heh.

The MAN grins and starts to push his trolley away from the
house. LINCOLN keeps his eyes on the house.
CUT TO:

INT. ROSE TAVERN - EVENING

LINCOLN sits at the bar, old Irish music plays through the
background. He has a bottle in hand. A woman, STACEY ROLLINS,
17, pretty, long blonde hair, behind the bar looks through
it. She shrugs.
STACEY
I guess that’s what I remember, he
looked more monstrous up in person
but yeah I guess that’s him. He
chased after me when I left the
house.
LINCOLN
He say anything to you?

STACEY
No, he just grunted a lot. He tried
to knock me out but I had gotten
away.
LINCOLN
You see him ever again after that?
20.

STACEY
No, after that I stayed at home for
about six months until my Dad
finally let me out.
LINCOLN
Mhm. Anything else?
STACEY
It might not mean much but I heard
up North there was a few children
gone missing, well taken. Some
young, there was this one story I
heard from a girl friend of mine.
This class went on a school trip to
Boyle and one kid went missing,
wasn’t seen since.

LINCOLN
What school was this?

STACEY
Spring Gardens Elementary I think,
it was a good while ago though. It
was back a little while after I
almost got taken, the girl told me
because she said that could have
been me. She was a shit friend.

LINCOLN nods his head and takes a sip of his beer.

LINCOLN
You staying with your dad still?
STACEY
That drunk shithead? Pfft, no I
left the house straight after I
could get enough money to live. He
was never good to me, all he said
was Henry this and Henry that.
LINCOLN
He’s broken now Stacey, he ain’t
got nothing left.
STACEY
Yeah well, good riddance. It’s his
fault Henry got taken.

LINCOLN
You should go see him, he needs
someone in his life. God knows I
needed one when I lost my
daughter..
21.

LINCOLN looks to the ground and frowns lightly. He sighs and

pulls out his wallet, dropping a couple of notes onto the
bar. He marches to the exit.
STACEY
Hey the drink was only a fiver.
LINCOLN
Keep the change.
CUT TO:

INT. OFFICE, LINCOLN'S HOME - NIGHT

LINCOLN is standing at his office desk, his shirt open
revealing his vest. He smokes a cigarette as he looks down
onto files. His printer in the background is binging as
things begin to come out of it. LINCOLN steps back and picks
up the picture of the sketch from earlier. He walks to the
wall next to him and stands on his toes, putting the picture
ontop of the wall. He steps back, pictures of victims,
children are seen connected to the sketch. He sighs as he
looks around the pictures.
He sits down at his computer and looks through it, scrolling
through an old article. “11 March 1991” is seen in the top
right corner. He reads the main title, “Ballina School
‘Winterville Academy’ shut down after child molestation
charges hit it”. LINCOLN squints as he reads the article.

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN, LINCOLN'S HOME - NIGHT

LINCOLN walks into the kitchen, he lays his empty glass next
to a half full bottle of whiskey on the bar. He walks upto
the kitchen table, a map on a board is laid out covering it.
LINCOLN removes his cigarette from his mouth and leans down
onto the map, putting a pin through a piece of paper in a
place. The place is marked as “Spring Gardens Elementary”.
Three other places are marked around the map.
CUT TO:

INT. OFFICE, LINCOLN'S HOME - NIGHT

LINCOLN is reading an article again, this one surrounding
“Emma Thomas”. LINCOLN scrolls down and views a picture of
her, he raises his head lightly.
22.

“Thomas was saved and picked up by Judas Norman, community

hero. He is now letting her be supervised under his care.”
CUT TO:

INT. HALL, OCEANVIEW INSTITUTE - MORNING

LINCOLN is walking with a worker at the institute as they
walk through a hall.
WORKER
Emma was checked in here around the
start of June. By Judas Norman,
which you probably know.

LINCOLN
Mhm.
WORKER
She came here and has been really
quiet, I can never get any words
out of her sadly. No one has, but
you’ll have to be careful. She’s
prone to getting agitated easily so
please be gentle with her. If you
agitate her too much, it’s possible
she could have a seizure.

The two push open a door into a games room.

INT. GAMES ROOM, OCEANVIEW INSTITUTE - MORNING

In the games room, a few kids are sitting together and
watching TV, some are drawing in their notebooks, some are
playing with toys and some conversating. LINCOLN walks in and
looks to the corner, there is EMMA THOMAS, 15, long brown
hair, red eyes, sitting in a chair all on her own and staring
at the floor. LINCOLN gulps and approaches her. He stands
next to her, she keeps her eyes on the floor. He crouches
down and looks to her.
LINCOLN
Emma, my name is Michael Lincoln. I
am a Detective in the Ballina Garda
station.
EMMA’s eyes don’t move.
LINCOLN (CONT’D)
I just want to ask you about, what
happened to you a while ago.
23.

LINCOLN waits, hoping for a response. Silence, she doesn’t do

anything.
LINCOLN (CONT’D)
Did you see any of the men’s faces
of who took you? Did they say any
name’s?

She keeps still.

LINCOLN (CONT’D)
Did one of them look like this?
LINCOLN takes out a picture from his folder, showing EMMA. It
is the sketch picture. EMMA finally moves, her head raises a
bit and her eyes widen. She moves her head slowly to LINCOLN.
He looks upto her now.
EMMA
He...he showed me his work..his
paintings…
LINCOLN
Of what?
EMMA
Fire...people..
LINCOLN
Where was this Emma?

EMMA
The wood’s…...he showed us...he
showed us..
LINCOLN raises his head, crossing his eyebrows.
LINCOLN
Us? Who’s us Emma?
EMMA keeps silent and looks at LINCOLN. He shakes his head at
her, he puts his hand on hers.
LINCOLN (CONT’D)
Were there more Emma? Were there
other children?
EMMA
He had...had a golden eye...golden
eye..
EMMA begins to hyperventilate as she looks around, repeating
her words. Her eyes slowly start to go back under her head
and her hands twitching as she begins to have a seizure.
24.

LINCOLN
Emma, Emma!
A couple of workers rush over and begin to help her, wrapping
their arms around EMMA. LINCOLN gulps and stands up, stepping
back as he leaves for the exit.
CUT TO:

INT. DETECTIVE OFFICES - MORNING

LINCOLN marches through the offices as he comes to his own
desk. PETERS is sitting at his desk and talking with a woman.
PETERS
So the man was wearing a ski-mask
and had dark clothes on, alright.
LINCOLN sits down at his computer and begins to type things
onto it. PETERS turns around and nods to LINCOLN.
PETERS (CONT’D)
Hey, morning Lincoln. This is Mrs.
Burns. She’s the victim in the
breaking and entering case, care to
help?
LINCOLN shakes his head as he reads through his computer.
PETERS sighs and turns back to the woman.
PETERS (CONT’D)
One second, ma’am.
PETERS stands up, as does LINCOLN who walks out towards a
door. PETERS follows.
PETERS (CONT’D)
Hey!....Hey!
PETERS grabs onto his arm and turns him around, LINCOLN looks
back at him.
LINCOLN
What?
PETERS
What’s up with you lately huh?
You’re not around much, you ain’t
talking and you ain’t come over to
our house in a while.
LINCOLN
I am busy, working.
25.

PETERS
Oh yeah, you know what that sounds
like? The Lincoln I was partnered
with five months ago.
LINCOLN
I haven’t got time for this.
PETERS
I don’t care, you’ve been going on
all these wild goose chases,
banging on people’s doors, asking
about old missing person’s.
LINCOLN sighs and tilts his head to PETERS.
PETERS (CONT’D)
Yeah, I know about it. The
community talks...now look, I know
you have your own things you want
to sort out. But I’m your partner,
and partners help eachother out.
Well I need you to help me with my
things, I’ve got a kid on the way
and I can’t keep a straight head on
investigations.
LINCOLN
Look buddy, if you got problems and
can’t think straight you can always
take time off. You don’t need the
job and quite frankly if you won’t
help me, I don’t need you.
PETERS shakes his head and gives LINCOLN the finger.

PETERS
Fuck you man, fuck you. I was the
only one who stuck up for you, I
had a chance to leave you as a
partner but I didn’t. I saw
something good in you, I took you
in and helped you. Now you can’t
help me out on a case?
LINCOLN
No buddy, because I’m the still the
same guy from five months ago. I
never changed. Neither did you.
26.

LINCOLN sighs and turns, walking for the stairs. PETERS

watches him leave and turns, shaking his head. He walks back
to his desk.
CUT TO:

EXT. CARAVAN PARK - MORNING

LINCOLN’s car pulls up through an old caravan park, many
dirty caravans are parked together with smoke coming out of
them. LINCOLN’s car stops and his door opens, LINCOLN gets
out and looks around the place before walking to a caravan.
VOICE (O.S)
Yeah I worked in that school
before, it was owned by our church.
CUT TO:

INT. HEATH'S CARAVAN - MORNING

LINCOLN sits on a couch across from GABRIEL HEATH, 30’s,
black hair, dirty who has a drink in his hand and a
cigarette.
LINCOLN
What was it called?
GABRIEL HEATH
Grace Mercy Chapel. Mmm, that was
set up by that Judas Norman fella I
think. Back in the early 90’s or
late 80’s..
LINCOLN
Mhm, that got accusations thrown at
it aswell?
GABRIEL HEATH
Something like that, yeah. After a
couple of people got hit with
accusations, the school and church
were avoided by the people. Meh,
then after that we shut down.
LINCOLN
Mhm, what Judas Norman do after
that?
GABRIEL takes a drag of his cigarette, shaking his head.
27.

GABRIEL HEATH
Norman didn’t own it by then, he
had sold it almost a year before.
LINCOLN nods his head slowly. GABRIEL looks down, shaking his
hand once.
GABRIEL HEATH (CONT’D)
Y’know, there was something funny
about it I always thought.
LINCOLN
What’s that?
GABRIEL HEATH
Before there was any actual
accusations or evidence, there was
some rumors going around about
priests and bishops feeling
up….young kids and all that. You
might expect something like that to
happen at a church by fake stories,
lying kids whatever.
LINCOLN stares at GABRIEL, who shakes his head and looks
around.
GABRIEL HEATH (CONT’D)
After we started hearing about them
rumors, Judas was starting to sell
off the church. Leave it behind for
another. It was a big surprise,
came outta nowhere.
LINCOLN
And his ass was covered from the
accusations..
GABRIEL HEATH
Damn straight….ugh, heard he set up
another school in the East
somewhere. I don’t know, he’s set
up so many I lost track.
LINCOLN
What happened with the accusations?
Anyone charged with anything?
GABRIEL HEATH
Couple of Gard’s came down,
interviews, thrown in cells.
Nothing really..although, I think
one priest had an accident sometime
after it.
28.

GABRIEL HEATH (CONT’D)

Overdosed or something like that. I
think Judas put it under the radar
though, told the Gard’s not to do
anything or something.
LINCOLN
Mhm, where was that church out by?
GABRIEL HEATH
On the South side of the River Moy,
it’s a big place you can’t miss it.
It’s abandoned now though, ain’t
been in use since we had it.
LINCOLN nods his head lightly and picks up his files,
beginning to stand up. GABRIEL waves his hand once as he
crosses his eyebrows.
GABRIEL HEATH (CONT’D)
Hey y’know that school he set up
after, I think I heard some
accusations hit that aswell.
LINCOLN looks up to GABRIEL and sits back down.
LINCOLN
Oh yeah? I never heard anything
about that.
GABRIEL HEATH
Accusations of child mistreatment,
I don’t know. Just a teacher or
something, nothing else. I think
the parents were planning on suing
but got cold feet before a trial
and let it be.
LINCOLN
Mmmm, you ever in the Norman’s
religious foundation?
GABRIEL HEATH
I was never in it but I went there
once, they’ve got lots of important
people though. Saw some
construction developers,
politicians aswell I think. It was
pretty private.
LINCOLN
Why’d you leave the church?
29.

GABRIEL HEATH
Meh, after all the accusations. I
found it hard to believe a God
would allow all this. Nah, it ain’t
the guy I read about in the books..
LINCOLN stands up slowly, putting his files under his arm and
turns, leaving. GABRIEL sits in his chair, smoking his
cigarette and looks to the floor.
CUT TO:

EXT. GRACE BAPTIST CHAPEL - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN’s car pulls off the road and arrives up to the Grace
Baptist Church, it is old and has some windows smashed in.
LINCOLN steps out of the car and looks up at it as he closes
the door.
MCMANN (V.O)
Chris! Get in here a second!
LINCOLN slowly approaches the church as he looks up to it.
CUT TO:

INT. MCMANN'S OFFICE - AFTERNOON

PETERS walks into the office and MCMANN closes the door
behind him, walking towards his desk. He is clearly angered.
PETERS shrugs in confusion.
PETERS
What is it sir?
MCMANN
What the hell is your partner up
to?
PETERS
Sir?
MCMANN
Don’t sir me, I know what’s
happening. He’s going around and
picking up old cases, old missing
persons when he should be working
with you!
PETERS
sighs Look sir, I’m not sure
alright.
30.

PETERS (CONT’D)
He still thinks that the Devil
killer is out there and is taking
children, I don’t know. I’m not
involved with it.

MCMANN
The Devil killer? Christ, I thought
we had gotten past that and put it
to rest. Look Chris, I don’t know
what he thinks he’s doing but
you’re going to get him to stop
alright? He’s chasing old cases,
he’s practically going around and
bothering people with the old
cases. Just get him away from doing
it alright?

PETERS
Look sir, I’m not sure how to. He’s
a real stubborn little shit.

MCMANN
Well, just find a way alright?
Otherwise it’s your ass aswell.
Look if he doesn’t stop, bring him
in and I’ll suspend him. If he
doesn’t stop, the press will find
out and we’ll be facing a shitstorm
again. Whenever he gets back, talk
with him.

PETERS
Alright, alright. I’ll talk with
him, sorry for this mess.
MCMANN sighs, shaking his head as he sits down at his desk.
PETERS gets up and turns, walking to the door. A look of
anger is on his face as he leaves.
CUT TO:

INT. GRACE BAPTIST CHAPEL - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN is walking inside the church, a flashlight in hand
and latex gloves on. He crosses his eyebrows as he walks
around, webs and dust covering everything around the place.
Everything in the church is disjointed and some graffiti is
on the walls, “rapists”, “child murderers”, “true devil’s”.
LINCOLN shines the torch up at the graffiti as he strolls
past. He walks around until he reaches the altar and stops, a
light shines in from a hole in the ceiling. He squints a
little bit at it until he hears a swish sound behind him.
31.

LINCOLN turns slowly and shines the torch around until it

reaches a confession box, the cloth covering it blows a bit.
LINCOLN approaches the confession box and pulls up the cloth,
walking inside. Empty, nothing but cobwebs and dust. LINCOLN
shines the torch around until he sees something, on the
ground. He leans down to the bottom of the box and shines the
light on something. Words carved into the wood, “The fire is
coming”. LINCOLN widens his eyes a bit and looks up a bit,
raising the torch. Underneath a plank of wood is more
carvings and a small drawing, “He will come, he has come
once.”, “Nobody can survive”. And the drawing, is a small
drawing of an eye with a golden iris…
CUT TO:

INT. DETECTIVE OFFICES, BALLINA GARDA STATION - AFTERNOON

PETERS sits at his desk, he exhales as he leans back. He
looks exhausted. He picks up a couple of files and carelessly
puts them into a drawer and shuts it. Up walks, LINCOLN and
he rushes to PETERS’ desk.
LINCOLN
Hey.
PETERS
Oh hey, yeah you. I need to talk
with you.
LINCOLN
Yeah, buy you a beer?
PETERS
Sure.
PETERS steps up and picks up his jacket, following LINCOLN
towards the exit.
CUT TO:

INT. MERRY MONK - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN and PETERS sit at a table, a beer each between them.
Many other civilians in the background are drinking, the
place is booming a bit.
PETERS
Right look, before we get started.
You have to stop whatever you’re
looking into okay? I talked with
McMann, he’s considering taking
your job if you don’t stop.
32.

LINCOLN
It goes higher than that Chris,
I’ve looked into more cases.
Accusations hit two of Norman’s
schools, child abuse.

LINCOLN slaps some files onto the table, sliding it towards

PETERS. He sighs and opens up the files, looking through
them.
LINCOLN (CONT’D)
A little girl, Emma Thomas, found
out in the road by Beasley before
his arrest. He took her to a
hospital and Judas took her back,
she’d under his supervision now.

PETERS
Beasley? Are you fucking-. sighs
Chris, what do you have to back it
up Mike?
LINCOLN
A church, Grace Baptist Church, out
by the Moy. I found things relating
to the Devil killer, a painting of
the golden eye, words written, lots
of shit.

PETERS
What? You’re not serious?
LINCOLN
I’m very serious, he’s covered up
many accusations towards his
churches, I don’t know what the
fuck is going on anymore but Norman
and his little circle jerk are at
something right now. We need to
take care of it.
PETERS
Christ Mike, I mean you’re talking
about the Lord Mayor here. lowers
his voice Half the fucking people
in this room look up to this man,
including me.
LINCOLN
I know but I need you to help me,
we can’t leave this be.
33.

LINCOLN (CONT’D)
I might have just found the
surface, if they covered all this
up who knows how many others they
covered up. Will you help me,
partner?

PETERS sighs and takes a sip of his beer, he shakes his head
once before looking to LINCOLN.
PETERS
What have you got?
LINCOLN
Schools, churches all with missing
kids connected to them and all
owned by Judas Norman.
PETERS
Right, sighs You got any places in
mind?
LINCOLN
The school Henry Rollins went to
seems like a good start,
Tranquility Elementary.
PETERS nods his head slowly as he takes a sip of his beer.
CUT TO:

INT. PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE, TRANQUILITY ELEMENTARY - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN and PETERS sit at a desk in a beautifully designed
principal’s office. LARRY SHIELD, slick black hair, well
built, 30’s, sits at the opposite side of the desk. A cross
hangs high on the wall behind him.
LARRY
Here at Tranquility Elementary, we
try to give our kids a proper
education for the world.
LINCOLN
Mhm, and that includes religion
too?
LARRY
Of course, religion is important in
people’s lives. You know, it’s been
said that religious people live
happier lives than non-religious
ones.
34.

LINCOLN
Yeah, they say that about drinking
aswell but I find myself in a much
happier life with a beer in my
hand.
PETERS interrupts LINCOLN’s brude comment, he sits forward.
PETERS
Around two years ago now, one of
your students Henry Rollins went
missing.
LARRY
Ah yes, poor Henry. He was a good
student in our school. We tried to
do the best we could to find him.
We stuck up posters, pictures, got
students to go door to door and ask
people if they saw him.
PETERS
Right, was there any...progress in
the search?
LARRY
Uh no, no we didn’t get very far.
We left most of the work up to the
police.
LINCOLN
Didn’t another one of your
students, Meghan Bloom, go missing
too?
LARRY
Uh yes, but that was to do with the
church not the school. Can I just
ask, what does this have to do with
us? What is this all about?
LINCOLN
Murders of missing children.
LARRY raises his head up, his eyes widening. PETERS looks at
LINCOLN and gives him a dirty look before he looks back at
LARRY.
PETERS
Mr Shield, would it be possible for
us to maybe, take a look around the
place and possibly talk to one or
two kids?
35.

PETERS (CONT’D)
We’re worried there might be
another kidnapping possibly to
occur. We’d also like to check out
Henry Rollins work if possible.
LARRY
Well, erm I..I guess so
Detectives..
LARRY nods his head and stands up. LINCOLN and PETERS do too.
CUT TO:

INT. CLASSROOM, TRANQUILITY ELEMENTARY - AFTERNOON

A female teacher is teaching a classroom of about twenty
children, all the children are in a uniform and look to have
distinct and similar dress-ups. All the boys hair are short
and spiked, all the girls hair is in a pony tail.
TEACHER
And Jesus Christ was crucified for
our sins, he was deemed a martyr
for doing so. Jesus Christ is the
truest hero who has ever lived.
The door opens, in walks LINCOLN, LARRY and PETERS. The
TEACHER turns around and looks to the trio.
LARRY
Sorry to disturb you Ms Murphy,
this is Detectives Lincoln and
Peters. They just want to speak
with the class for a while.
TEACHER
Okay, no problem.
LINCOLN and PETERS walk into the classroom, looking around at
all the kids. LINCOLN turns to the teacher.
LINCOLN
Can I see Henry Rollin’s work bin?
The TEACHER nods and points to a work bin in the far right
corner at the back of the room. LINCOLN looks down at it and
approaches it. He opens up the bin and begins to search
through it, opening up many pages and notebooks. He keeps
looking through it until he stops on a page and looks at it.
He raises his head and then turns around, facing the room. He
shows the picture up.
36.

LINCOLN (CONT’D)
I wouldn’t imagine this is what
you’re supposed to draw in art
class is it?
The picture would be a big golden eye overlooking many small
people as orange flame covers over them. PETERS looks at it
and crosses his eyebrows. LARRY shakes his head and steps
forward.
LARRY
I’m afraid this is getting too
inappropiate, I must ask you to
leave.
LINCOLN gives LARRY a dirty look and closes the notebook,
putting it under his arm and leaves. PETERS follows.
CUT TO:

INT. PETERS' CAR - EVENING

LINCOLN sits in the car and reads through the notebook,
PETERS drives and glances over at the notebook from time to
time. He exhales in revolt.
PETERS
What the fuck is going on at them
schools man?
LINCOLN
I always knew there was something
up with them Chris, I always knew.
We’ve got to get this out there,
after we get them all.
PETERS
I’ll never understand why you’d
hurt a kid, I’ll never understand
it. Nothing makes me happier than
taking a shithead who hurts kids
off of the street.

LINCOLN
Mmm, I’ve seen enough worse shit in
my life to last a life time after I
die.
PETERS
You and me both man, you and me
both.
37.

LINCOLN
You remember Mr. Rollin said that
he sent in the reports about his
kid?
PETERS
Yeah? Twice I think he said.

LINCOLN
I didn’t find anything on that,
wasn’t in any missing person’s
files.
LINCOLN squints as he looks up and out the window. PETERS
glances over at him.
PETERS
You sure? Maybe you missed it.
LINCOLN
Maybe I did...that’s why you’re
going to head to the station and
check.
PETERS
What are you gonna do?
LINCOLN
Go have a talk with Judas Norman.
PETERS raises his eyebrows and looks over to LINCOLN, tilting
his head once as he exhales lightly.
PETERS
Alright then.
CUT TO:

EXT. NORMAN FOUNDATION - AFTERNOON

Many cars fill the carpark at the Norman Foundation, cars and
people rushing in and out. LINCOLN’s car pulls up into the
carpark.
CUT TO:
38.

INT. LINCOLN'S CAR - AFTERNOON

LINCOLN cuts the engine and sighs, taking out his keys. He
picks up his files and he’s about to open the door when he
stops and thinks for a second, he looks over at the glove
compartment for a minute before he leans over and opens it
up. He takes out a small flask and lays down his files onto
his lap.
LINCOLN twists the cap on the flask and takes it off, he
raises up the flask and takes a couple of swigs from it for a
couple of seconds. He takes one last big sip from it before
he twists the cap back on and lays it back into the
compartment. LINCOLN then takes off his badge and lays it
inside, next to the flask before shutting the compartment.
LINCOLN picks up his files and pushes the door open, hopping
out.
LINCOLN (O.S)
I’d like to say a thank you for
letting me see you Mr. Norman, I
know you’re such a busy man.
JUDAS NORMAN (O.S)
Ah, no worries Detective Lincoln.
I’m always free to help out the
Gardai whenever it’s needed.
CUT TO:

INT. NORMAN'S OFFICE - AFTERNOON

NORMAN’s office is decorated with many pictures and
photographs of himself alongside MCMANN and OTTO SCOTT. Each
are from different years, some are even black and white. A
cross lays on the wall aswell. JUDAS NORMAN approaches his
seat and sits down at it, LINCOLN does to across from him at
a desk.
LINCOLN
I must say though, this office,
this building. It’s pretty
impressive.
JUDAS NORMAN
Yeah, yeah I’m quite happy with it
myself. After so many years of
working in the backroom of a
church, using as an office it
finally paid off.
39.

LINCOLN
Yeah, building schools, churches,
orphanages. It’s quite the resume.
People of this county owe you a
huge favour.
JUDAS NORMAN
Ah, it’s nothing. I love my county,
although to me this county owes you
a huge favor. That whole Devil case
was huge undertaking for you I’d
say.
But I’m curious, what is this little meeting about?
LINCOLN
Just a couple of questions
regarding your schools and
churches.
JUDAS NORMAN
Oh well, ask away Detective.
LINCOLN
You remember the old schools you
set up throughout the early 90’s?
Can you tell me much about that?
JUDAS NORMAN
Well, I had gotten in contact with
a few of the churches around Mayo
in them years and I had seen the
lack of push for religion and even
education in the county. But I had
talked with them and eventually we
had raised enough funds to set up a
few private schools, which people
could use. And overtime, we grew
and grew.
LINCOLN
And the priests and bishops?
JUDAS NORMAN
Well, I had joined into a
foundation at my local church and
eventually, through there they
allowed me to set up the schools
and churches. A few volunteer
priests and bishops joined in with
me then.
40.

LINCOLN
A foundation eh? Got any lists or
files on that foundation?

JUDAS NORMAN
Well, it was pretty private I’m
afraid Detective. Religious
exemptions and such.
LINCOLN
Can’t even be supplied to a police
officer?

JUDAS NORMAN
Well, I’m afraid not straight away.
As far as I know, you have to get a
subpoena from a judge and send it
to the church. Although, I don’t
think we have many files left over
after the program was switched
over.

LINCOLN
To you, wasn’t it?

JUDAS NORMAN
Eventually, yes. After I had to
take over and we started to use
computers, old files were thrown
out. Some were damaged in natural
disasters, we lost a good bit in a
storm in 1989 I believe. But uhm, I
may have some files laying around
if you would like to bring a
subpoena sometime?
LINCOLN
Yeah, maybe. But before I go and do
that, one of your former priest’s
Oliver Todd. He was a child
molestor right?

JUDAS NORMAN gulps once, he folds his hands and nods once. A
dark look takes over his face.
JUDAS NORMAN
Oliver did have bad relations, yes.
We took care of the issue as soon
as we heard about it.
LINCOLN
And yet, he had died in prison soon
after entering.
41.

JUDAS NORMAN
Oh, well that is very, very
unfortunate. Todd was a good priest
when we had him here..he might have
had bad things about him but I will
say a prayer for him tonight.
LINCOLN
Was he a priest from the old
foundation?

JUDAS NORMAN
Uhm...no, no I don’t believe so. I
don’t think he joined until the end
of the first foundation.
LINCOLN
Mmmm, I understand. Could you tell
me about the Grace Baptist Chapel?

JUDAS NORMAN
Well, it was established in ‘91 by
the foundation. Erm, it was one of
our churches that connected with
Tranquility Elementary.
LINCOLN
You had sold it off right?
JUDAS NORMAN
I did yes, to a rising religious
foundation called the Christ
Fellowship. I did it to help the
foundation but also to free up some
space for my new projects I wanted
to take on, I had just started on
the job of leading the foundation.
LINCOLN
And then it was hit with the child
mistreatment accusations.

JUDAS NORMAN
Yes, I had heard that some
allegations hit the church. I was
so shocked to hear, if I’m really
honest I really hadn’t of seen
anything like that in my
foundation. But after the schools
and churches closed down, I helped
out a couple of families and took
some children in. Now everything
seems to be a bit better.
42.

LINCOLN
Mhm, right. Mr. Norman, may I ask
what happened with the Henry
Rollins case? That SDU on the
borders of the village said that
you stopped them from investigating
it.
JUDAS NORMAN
Well, poor Henry had gone missing
from a school after some man had
taken him. I had gotten
Commissioner McMann straight onto
the case. We had heard the SDU were
investigating it but we stopped
them because we had it all under
control.
LINCOLN
Uh huh, right.
JUDAS NORMAN
What’s this about Detective? All
these questions about the
foundation, child mistreatment
allegations…
LINCOLN
Missing or probably dead children.
JUDAS NORMAN
Oh, oh. That’s horrible news, just
horrible.
LINCOLN
You wouldn’t have any idea on what
happens with that all would you,
Mr. Norman?
JUDAS turns his head to LINCOLN, cocking his eyebrow. He
places his hands onto the table.
JUDAS NORMAN
Are you trying to throw accusations
at me, Detective Lincoln?

LINCOLN
Just asking, Mr.Norman.
JUDAS NORMAN
If I wanted to, I could sue you and
have your job after those
comments..
43.

LINCOLN
chuckles Thing is Mr. Norman, I’m
not here on police business.
LINCOLN lifts up his jacket, showing off no badge. JUDAS
looks at him and crosses his eyebrows.

LINCOLN (CONT’D)
And I might have taken a couple of
drinks before I came in here.
JUDAS bites his tongue in anger, he’s clearly furious. He
stands up.
JUDAS NORMAN
I can set you up with a person in
the file room, get you some files
on the old foundation.
LINCOLN
I can come get that again Mr.
Mayor. I best get going now.
JUDAS NORMAN
I agree.
LINCOLN
Just one last thing before I go,
one of your priests in the old
Grace Baptist church. He had died
from an overdose, you know anything
about that?
JUDAS NORMAN
Well Detective, accidents happen
everyday. We can’t stop them all
but we try to, don’t we? Overdoses,
cutting your hand...car crashes?
JUDAS can’t help but smirk as he looks up to LINCOLN. He
raises his head as JUDAS says ‘car crashes’ and squints at
him. He eventually let’s out a sly smirk and nods once.
LINCOLN
Thanks for your time Mr. Norman,
I’ll come back for them files
another day.
JUDAS NORMAN
Well, may the Lord be with you
Detective. Of course, we all need a
bit of faith in our lives hm? I’ll
think over your case.
44.

LINCOLN
Mhm, good luck in the elections.
You never know what publicity could
spur up every now and again which
could put a bad picture on one’s
image.
LINCOLN slowly stands up, keeping eye contact with JUDAS. He
turns and walks towards the door, a man at the door opens it
for him and LINCOLN walks out.
JUDAS NORMAN
God bless Detective!
CUT TO:

INT. FILE ROOM - AFTERNOON

PETERS stands on a ladder and looks over through many case
boxes, looking over the words written on each. His jacket is
off and bits of sweat are on his shirt. He shakes his head as
he looks through the boxes and mumbles under his breath. He
pulls out a box and steps down.
He walks up to a desk and is about to place it down but the
desk is full, he sighs and looks around before placing it on
the floor. He knees down and opens up the box, taking out
files and looking through them. PETERS sighs as he tosses the
file back into the box. The door to the room opens, a
secretary peaks in. She crosses her eyebrows at all the
files.
SECRETARY
Woah Chris, you got a lot of
homework to do then eh?
PETERS
Something like that, yeah.
SECRETARY
Can I get you some coffee?
PETERS
Nah I’m grand, best I could do with
now is some luck.
SECRETARY
Why? What are you looking for?
PETERS
An old missing persons case, it’s
not in here.
45.

SECRETARY
You checked the homicides section
too?
PETERS
Yep.
SECRETARY
What about closed cases?
PETERS
Well the case wasn’t solved
but...maybe..
PETERS hops up and turns around walking back to the files
section. The SECRETARY shrugs and closes the door, walking
off. PETERS picks up the ladder and brings it along to
another section before climbing up it. He begins to sort
through some boxes before taking out a box, checking over the
name and nodding. He steps down and carries it off.
PETERS slams it down onto a chair and takes off the top,
tossing it to the floor. He then begins to sort through it
and takes out a file, reading through it before nodding
lightly. He grins as he closes it. He places it down onto the
side of the desk and begins to pack up the other boxes.
CUT TO:

INT. DETECTIVES OFFICES - LATE AFTERNOON

LINCOLN strolls through the offices, holding his jacket over
his shoulder as he approaches his desk. Up comes PETERS, file
in hand. He flicks his chin up to LINCOLN.

PETERS
Mike! I got it here.
LINCOLN steps to his desk and places his jacket around the
chair, looking to PETERS who flips open the file.
LINCOLN
What have we got here then?
PETERS
The whole casefile on the Rollins
situation, it was in the closed
cases.
LINCOLN
Closed cases? Hm, who was it
investigated and closed by.
46.

LINCOLN picks up a page and brings his finger down through it

and stops at the bottom, there is a signature. “Austin
McMann”
LINCOLN (CONT’D)
Mhm, I knew it.
Suddenly a voice interrupts the duo’s conversation.
MCMANN (SHOUTING)
Lincoln! Peters! Get in my office,
now!
LINCOLN and PETERS look up to MCMANN who walks into his
office, towards his seat.
LINCOLN
Put the file in a drawer at your
desk, lock it. The file can’t go
missing.

PETERS nods his head and walks towards his desk. LINCOLN
exhales and picks up his jacket, throwing it on as he walks
to MCMANN’s office. PETERS opens up the bottom drawer and
places the file in under others before shutting it, locking
it with a key. He stands up and approaches MCMANN’s office,
gulping. He enters into the office.
MCMANN
Shut the door.
PETERS does so.

INT. MCMANN'S OFFICE - LATE AFTERNOON

MCMANN sits at his desk, his hands on the table and his face
is pure red, distinct anger covers his face. He looks between
the duo.
MCMANN
What the fuck is going on with you
two huh? First Chris, I told you to
tell this little shit here to stop
taking on these old missing persons
and now he’s still doing it. You
want to know what he did eh?
MCMANN points to LINCOLN and looks to PETERS who shrugs
lightly, glancing at LINCOLN.
47.

MCMANN (CONT’D)
He goes and meets Emma Thomas, a
girl who was kidnapped and raped by
some druggies, sends her into a
seizure and put under watch for the
next week. And then you go to Judas
Norman, the Lord-fucking-Mayor and
accuse him of crimes without any
evidence.
LINCOLN
Look sir, Norman’s churches and
schools have missing kids connected
to them. Dead kids now.
MCMANN
Dead? Yeah right, got any bodies?
Any proof except missing kids at
his schools? He’s got schools
around the whole county. Look, a
guy goes missing at McDonalds, you
going to accuse Ronald McDonald on
being in on it aswell?
LINCOLN
Look sir, there’s many
disappearances linked to him. Now I
can’t decide whether if it’s being
covered up or is just that good
with getting away with it. Just
like the Devil killer is.
MCMANN
The Devil killer? Oh my Jesus
Christ, y’know what I’ve had enough
of your shit. Badge and gun. You’re
being suspended Lincoln, two months
no-pay. It’s done, end of.
LINCOLN
You’ve got to taking the piss.
PETERS
Yeah, that’s way over the top.
MCMANN
Cut the shit! I told you two
already, you should feel lucky
you’re not facing anything Peters.
Badge and gun Lincoln, now.
LINCOLN shakes his head and takes out his badge and gun,
placing them onto the table.
48.

LINCOLN
You fucking bureaucrat, I won’t be
seeing the inside of this place
again. And neither will you.
MCMANN
Yeah, yeah you’ll make us all very
happy then. Now get the fuck out
before I throw your ass out.
MCMANN waves his hand towards the door. LINCOLN turns and
opens up the door, walking out. PETERS watches him leave and
gulps once.
PETERS
Sir I think you sh-
MCMANN
Cut the shit Peters, I don’t want
to hear any of it. Get out of here
and get back to your job.
PETERS sighs and stands up, turning and walking to the door.
He closes the door and looks up towards the exit, LINCOLN
shoves the door open and walks out.
CUT TO:

INT. LINCOLN'S HOUSE - NIGHT

LINCOLN and PETERS are sitting on a couch the sitting room,
an open file out on the table. Some boxes surround the chairs
and table. A beer is also between the duo.
PETERS
It was hidden at the very back of
the closed cases section, all on
it’s own. Not much evidence to find
beyond the file.
LINCOLN opens up the file, beginning to look through it as he
brings his finger down.
LINCOLN
Hm, search party brought out on
14th of October. Brought back in,
four days later..No follow-ups.
LINCOLN lifts up some pages, looking through the file.
LINCOLN (CONT’D)
You find the second one?
49.

PETERS
Second? Nah, that wasn’t in there.
Just this.
LINCOLN
Right, let’s see….No suspects, no
confessions, no arrests. And it was
in the closed cases section right?
PETERS
Yeah, right near the back on it’s
own. Box had nothing else in it.
LINCOLN
Well it was logged in back McMann,
but there’s something here...Judas
Norman deemed the case worthy of
closing.
PETERS
Yeah, I think we have something
here Mike.
LINCOLN
That’s true.
PETERS
How’d it all go with Norman today?
LINCOLN
He tried to play all good, smiling
God loving help man as per usual. I
think I got him shaking in his
boots though, he should make a trip
over himself soon enough.
PETERS
You sound so sure of yourself.
LINCOLN
I am sure, I’ve got some fear into
him. He’s going to make a mistake
soon enough. When a gun fires, you
don’t think twice of shooting back
or running do you?
PETERS
Meh, fare enough.
LINCOLN picks up his beer and stands up, taking a sip.
LINCOLN
Right, we need to find more
casefiles like this.
50.

LINCOLN (CONT’D)
Gather some shit together, make
ourselves a snowball.

PETERS
Woah, woah. What are you talking
about? Aren’t we bringing this in?
LINCOLN
Of course, yeah eventually. But the
case ain’t over yet. There’s still
more missing kids out there. Or
dead ones.
PETERS
I know but Rollins, don’t you want
justice for him? The more time we
spend not talking with the GSOC or
the public, the more kids they can
take.

LINCOLN
What’s your plan huh? Bring this to
the GSOC? Christ Chris, if we bring
this in now. Then McMann, Scott and
Norman will cover everything up,
throw everything under the rug. We
need to grab their shit out from
under them, so they have nothing to
do but back down.
PETERS stands up, throwing his hands up.

PETERS
And what if we get caught digging
into it all huh? What if by the
time we have everything, they have
paid off everyone and we’re fucked.
And we don’t have anything but
empty evidence, what then? If we
bring this in now, they’re exposed
and we can gather more shit.

LINCOLN
You remember the Devil killer? Hm?
Killed five people?
PETERS
Yeah, course I do.
51.

LINCOLN
Yeah, he’ still out there. He’s in
on that little circle jerk, hell
maybe there’s more fuckin’ people
in that circle jerk than we already
now. If we start now, people are
going to escape and eventually
they’ll all be doing the same shit
again and again. Unless we stop
them.

PETERS frowns, lowering his head and looking to the floor.

LINCOLN nods his head slowly.
LINCOLN (CONT’D)
I get it buddy, you want to stop
this shit. You’ve always been like
that and I’m with you brother, but
this shit we can’t go public yet.
We’re going to bring this all in,
one way or another. But we can’t
yet. I don’t what the whole thing
is or how far it goes, but we’ll
get it. All I need you to do is
trust, me. Alright?
PETERS
Alright Mike, alright yeah. I trust
you.
LINCOLN nods his head slowly as he pats PETERS on the
shoulder.
PETERS (CONT’D)
I’m gonna...I’m gonna head home, I
need to think. Need sleep.
LINCOLN
Yeah, you need it. I’m gonna look
over files, I’ll probably call you
tomorrow. Have a good night Chris.

PETERS
Yeah, you too Mike. You too.
LINCOLN
You should take that file, if
McMann decides to come over and he
finds that, when we bring it to
court a shit-talking lawyer could
deem it irrevalent.
52.

PETERS nods his head slowly as he picks up his jacket and the
file, walking to the door. LINCOLN stands and walks into his
office room.
CUT TO:

INT. PETERS HOME - NIGHT

The front door to the PETERS household opens and in walks
PETERS, he slowly walks in as he swings his keys around and
he closes the door. Most of the lights are off, some are on.
He walks in and takes off his jacket, laying it on a hanger.
He slowly walks to his bedroom.
CUT TO:

INT. BEDROOM, PETERS' HOME - NIGHT

PETERS lays down in bed alongside CAITLIN who is now a bit
more visibly pregnant. PETERS exhales as he pulls a bits of
covers over him. CAITLIN moans a bit as she looks up to him.
CAITLIN
Hey honey, good day at work?
PETERS
It was...no, not really it wasn’t.
CAITLIN
Why? What happened?
PETERS
Nah, forget it. You’re pregnant,
you need to make sure our little
Jess gets good rest and is healthy.
PETERS smiles and rubs his hand over CAITLIN’s pregnant
stomach, she sniggers and shakes her head.
CAITLIN
I can’t sleep anyway, neither can
she. C’mon, if she’s going to be
putting up with you as a Detective
when she grows up now is a good
time to start with the case
stories.
PETERS
sighs Alright, I’ll tell you some
bits. But I can’t explain a lot,
mostly because I think you’d never
believe me.
53.

CAITLIN
Mhm, try me.
PETERS
Basically, Mike and I have this
little case, he is putting it
together mostly. And it’s, it’s
pretty big. Bigger than us, bigger
than a small little robbery and it
ain’t quite a normal case you would
expect y’know.
PETERS shakes his head as he looks towards the blue colour
coming in from the window. CAITLIN rests her head on PETERS’
shoulder.
PETERS (CONT’D)
It’s horrible though Caitlin, it’s
really horrible. I...I don’t think
I’ve ever seen a case or story as
horrible as this. It...it just
involves, despicable things a
person could do and...I don’t know
what to do…
PETERS gulps, tears start to fill his eyes.
PETERS (CONT’D)
I want to go and report it, but
Mike...argh, if I go public with it
a couple of people involved could
go scott free and get away with
everything. He’s right aswell I
think..but if I don’t go public
with it, more and more people get
hurt.
PETERS sniffs, raising his hand to his head and rubs it.
PETERS (CONT’D)
My whole life, I’ve always wanted
to just help people. And I’ve tried
to...I’ve tried to. I’ve done all I
think I could do, but sometimes I’m
not sure I did my best. I think,
just maybe...just maybe if I had
strength, like my pops did...maybe
I could do better. Times like
this..I think I could use my pops,
y’know. But again, I don’t have
him...I just don’t know what to
do..
54.

PETERS shakes his head slowly as he rubs his eyes, CAITLIN

moves her way up towards PETERS.
CAITLIN
You might not have your father
Chris, but you do have me and soon
you’ll have Jess. Then together,
we’ll be a family. Don’t ever, ever
think you’ve never done your best.
You’re...you’re one of the best men
I’ve ever met, you help loads of
people. That orphanage, the
community centre, the fact you’re a
Detective...that’s the man I
married, a hero and a helper. And
that’s the man you will always be.

CAITLIN puts her hand on PETERS head, lowering it to his

face.
CAITLIN (CONT’D)
Whatever this case is, you do
whatever you think is best. You’re
a hero Chris, you might not wear
tight skirts like Batman but you
don’t need to. Not all heroes come
in costumes, the costume I’ve seen
you come in is a suit with a
toolkit in your hand. Chris,
whatever it is you’re working on.
Do whatever will stop it all, there
might be consequences but
everything has consequences. You
just have to learn to accept it.
The world might be dark but you
bring the light, the light we
deserve.

PETERS smirks as he looks down at CAITLIN, his eyes full of

tears as he pulls her closer and nods his head slowly.
PETERS
You know, that last part ain’t
true.
CAITLIN raises her eyebrows a bit, smiling at PETERS.
PETERS (CONT’D)
We don’t get the light we deserve,
we get the light we earn and work
for. That’s you, that’s you and
Jess and the life I have...I know
what I’ll do now, all thanks to
you..
55.

PETERS leans in towards CAITLIN, beginning to kiss her.

CUT TO:

INT. BEDROOM, PETERS' HOME - MORNING

The sun shines in brightly yellow through the window, covered
by the blinds. PETERS rises slowly as he turns his head back
to CAITLIN, who is still sleeping. He smiles and stands up,
beginning to get dressed.
CUT TO:

INT. OFFICE, LINCOLN’S HOME - MORNING

LINCOLN slowly opens his eyes as he looks around the room,
files, pictures, pages fill the floor. The bright yellow
light shines in through the window. He looks around and
coughs slightly as he looks at a slightly filled glass of
whiskey and a burned out cigarette in a holder.
INTERCUT BETWEEN PETERS AND LINCOLN
PETERS begins to button up his
shirt, CAITLIN comes over and ties
his tie. The two smile at
eachother.
LINCOLN opens up a drawer and takes out the old frame of the
painting of the black oval, he wipes small bits of growing
dust off of it and looks up at where it was before, he eyes
the growing black dirt on the wall and sighs lightly.
PETERS throws on his jacket and picks up his car keys before
looking down at the file, he inhales slowly and then exhales
before picking up the file. He opens the door and walks out
to the door.
LINCOLN stands infront of the wall, staring at the dirt for a
couple of seconds and looks down, raising up the frame and
places it over the dirt. He stares into it as he raises up a
glass, drinking from it.
PETERS drives his car and raises his head as he looks around
Ballina, he looks out at all the people passing by and gulps
as he looks back forward.
LINCOLN sits at his office chair, lit cigarette in hand as he
looks down at all the files on the ground. He stares into
deep thought.
CUT TO:
56.

EXT. GARDA SIOCHANNA OMBUDSMAN OFFICE - MORNING

PETERS stands outside the GSOC offices and stares up at it,
his eyebrows crosses. A frown is on his face as he holds the
file under his arm. Many people pass through him as he just
stands still. He slowly lowers his head and looks back at his
car, before looking down at the floor. He gulps and shakes
his head, walking back to his car.
Until, he lays his hand onto his car roof and looks up at
across the way, a man and his son walk along the path,
laughing together and hand in hand. PETERS watches and a sad
look takes over his face. The man and son stop at an ice
cream truck. PETERS lowers his head and turns back, looking
up at the GSOC building before he pulls a broad face,
marching towards the door.
