Join us on a journey of discovery, as we explore the stories of women in the ancient epics
through dance and narrative (English). Some stories, such as that of Shakuntala, will be
familiar, whereas others like Madhavi, are not often told. Representing these women, we
ask Koham? Who am I? What is my story?
Join us in taking off the masks society has put on these women. Masks such as those of a
glorified mother, a dutiful daughter, a sacrificing lover, a vulnerable maiden, a demoness,
a weaker being less than a man!
If they were here today, what stories would they tell? We imagine them retelling their
stories, refusing to be boxed in by narrow societal norms, and in unison proclaiming
Aham I am me!
