The definition of a gifted student is different from the definition of a student

who gets good grades. An article states that gifted students are characterized as
having the capability to perform "at high levels in any one of five categories:
general intellectual ability, specific academic aptitude, creative or productive
thinking, leadership ability or visual/performing arts"(CNN). On the other hand, a
student who gets good grades can be defined as being intellectually capable of
having a substantial understanding of the material being taught and tested in class.
While both gifted kids and kids who get good grades can receive admirable marks in
their classes, the former is not only able to excel in things covered in school, but
goes above and beyond to apply what theyve learned to grow as a student and as
a person. The people who simply get good grades dont creatively apply their
knowledge like the gifted, who not only work to do well in their schoolwork, but
often engage in many outside activities that allow them to broaden their horizons,
whether it be sports or a fine art. These two types of students are similar in many
ways, but ultimately, can be characterized with different definitions.
