Justice

In this case I consider that justicestrict justicehas been done.

Justice (n.): the administering of deserved punishment or reward The word justice is important in Murder on the Orient Express because the twelve passengers that were related to the Armstrong family want to give Ratchett/Cassetti the punishment he deserves for killing Daisy.

Twelve people stabbed Ratchett/Cassetti, which represent the twelve members of a jury. The passengers found Ratchett guilty of killing Daisy, and metaphorically carried out his sentence, believing that they were upholding justice.

The threatening letters sent to Ratchett were meant to frighten him, and warn him that his time was up, and justice would be done.

There were twelve stab wounds found on Ratchetts body, one made by each one of the twelve passengers, wanting to get equal with him for what he did.
