After reviewing and understanding the material in this section, the student should be able to:
List the different types of radiation particles.
List the level of shielding required protecting against each of the major radiation types.
Define a half-life.
Calculate the half-life of a radioactive substance.
Calculate how much of a substance remains radioactive after a certain number of half-lives have
elapsed.
List different methods of measuring radiation exposure in a lab, including how to measure personal
exposure.
Explain how radiation contamination can be spread in a lab.
List the types of PPE required when using radioactive substances in a lab.
