Comparison of RTV Introscope and SAP Extended Diagnostics

SAP Active Global Support licensed Introscope from CA Wily in 2004 so that AGS engineers could
diagnose Java performance problems for all their NetWeaver customers. Since 2006, SAP's Solution
Manager Diagnostics (SMD) has included a free "Right-to-View" version of Introscope (RTV Introscope)
to support SAP's End-to-End Root Cause Analysis support standard. Additionally, in October 2008, SAP
and CA-Wily extended their agreement to allow SAP to sell the full version of Introscope as "SAP
Extended Diagnostics by CA-Wily". SAP Customers can use the full version of Introscope to monitor
all SAP applications and any Java and .NET applications connected to their SAP systems.
RTV Introscope includes:

Core Introscope Tools: Investigator, Dashboards, Transaction Tracer, SQL Agent, and Error Detector
Many dashboards created by SAP
Extensive instrumentation of key SAP applications and NetWeaver subsystems created by SAP

RTV Introscope actually ships with the core Introscope software and some Introscope extensions, but
the RTV license limits some features, effectively making RTV Introscope a read-only version of
Introscope. Customers cannot create or change:

Dashboards
Reports
Instrumentation
Alerts

Additionally, they cannot integrate Introscope alerts into external systems. This makes RTV Introscope
a reactive tool rather than a proactive one. Additionally, RTV can only be used to monitor Java and
.NET applications running on NetWeaver or sold by SAP. Customers who want to monitor applications
not sold by SAP that run on other application servers must license the full version for those applications.
SAP Extended Diagnostics by CA-Wily (SED) removes all the limitations in RTV and even includes some
additional extensions from CA-Wily that provide additional application monitoring capabilities.
