Antrochoanal polyp
Epidemiology
Antrochoanal polyps represent only
approximately 3-6% ofsinonasal polyps.
They are most commonly seen in young
adults. They are slightly more common in
males compared to females.
Clinical picture:
:Symptoms
-nasal obstruction
-Rhinorrhea
-snoring
-headache
-epistaxis
-anosmia
-halitosis
-dyspnea
-dysphagia
-dysphonia
-nasal pruritis
Signs:
Preoperative evaluation
CT
Soft tissue
masses that
occupy the
maxillary
antrum and
extend into
nasal cavity
WITHOUT
bone erosion
and may
extend
posteriorly to
Nasal
endoscopy
Appears as
smooth,
bluish mass
Histopathologic
examination
Pseudostratified
ciliated epithelium
Loose CT stroma
Infiltration of
inflammatory cells
Differential diagnosis
Juvenile angiofibroma
Inverted papilloma
Mucocele
Mucus retention cyst
Nasopharyngeal malignancies
Treatment
