To whom it may concern,
I would like to apply for an elementary teacher position for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year.
I graduated from Alma College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. My major is Elementary
Education and my minor is Early Childhood (ZS).
I believe in creating a classroom that supports developmentally appropriate practice in order to
meet the academic and behavioral needs of all students. I believe in utilizing students interests to
develop in line with curriculum standards and I am dedicated to providing as many hands-on,
real life experiences as possible. I prefer a classroom environment that is comfortable and
inviting to students, families, and colleagues. Throughout my time at Alma College and
Ellsworth Community Schools, I have gained work experience in classroom settings ranging
from Preschool to 5 grade.

In addition to my Education coursework, I have been trained and certified in three programs to
teach children about the outdoors and science - Project Learning Tree, Project WILD, WOW!
The Wonders of the Wetlands, and Energy and Society. Not only am I certified to educate children
about nature, but I also have strong communication skills. As a result of my recent employment
as a junior high girls basketball coach at Ellsworth Community Schools and Charlevoix
Middle/High School, my communication and organization skills have grown as well as my
understanding and patience.
