Mission
Of the School Library Media
Program at Douglas
Elementary

The Douglas Elementary School

Library Media Program
empowers the learning
community by providing an
inviting environment where
students can develop a love for
reading, an understanding of
technology and an appreciation
for the ethical use of
information. In the Library
Media Program, students ask
questions, explore resources
and work together to create
and share their knowledge.

Vision
Of the School Library Media
Program at Douglas
Elementary

The School Library Media Program is at

the center of the entire learning
community. Through collaboration with
all members of that community, it
fosters the development of critical
thinking skills and creativity by
providing unique learning experiences.
In the Library Media Program, students
will develop and show mastery of skills
related to inquiry, technology and
various literacies. The Library Media
Program will develop the understanding
that each student has a responsibility to
contribute to the learning environment
of our school, our community, and our
world. It will provide equitable access to
all materials and information at all times
and places.
