Improvisation Troupe, made up of the countries top
theatre and comedic talent. Our troupe of fearless
performers are dedicated to bringing you top class
theatre entertainment; dynamic team building sessions
and interactive corporate entertainment that is sure to
leave audiences informed and thoroughly entertained.
Claudine Ullman, Founder and performer of Jittery Citizens,
is an expert improvisor and facilitator having studied
and performed overseas at prestigious Improvisation
training facilities namely The Second City and Improv
Olympic in Chicago with an alumni list which includes Bill
Murray, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. Claudine also trained
under improve guru Armando Diaz at Magnet Theatre
in New York. She returned to South Africa and formed
The Jittery Citizens in 2012. Since then the troupe have
performed to packed audiences in various venues across
the country. They currently perform their monthly improv
show at the prestigious Market Theatre in Newtown.
Jittery Citizens features an ever growing cast of well
known South African performers including James
Cairns, Bruce Little, Mpho Osei Tutu and others. They
have performed alongside top celebrity guests such
as Tumi Morake, David Kibuuka, Loyiso Gola and
Kagiso Lediga. Their dynamic performances are
enhanced by renowned musical improviser, Tony Bentel.

IMPROV ENTERTAINMENT
Sibusiso Mkwanazi of the Citizen newspaper sums a Jittery
Citizens show up perfectly, The performers charged with ensuring
laughter set scenes, dream up characters and compose songs on
the spot, according to the audiences random suggestions. The
improvisational comedy provided in Jittery Citizens is not a
form of entertainment that is readily available on stages, so to
see such high-calibre entertainers get it so right is refreshing.

performances and long form Improv Comedy which
focuses on storytelling and ensemble relationships.

IMPROV FORMATS
Short Form Musical Improvisation
Short comedic scenes are played out based on
audience suggestions. In this highly interactive show,
scenes are improvised meaning they are unscripted
and unprepared, with hilarious results.
Take Two
Short scenarios are played out with certain
incorrect behaviours such as bad client relations,
incorrect procedures etc. Audience members suggest
corrections. Performers will then play out scenes using
these corrections.
Armando - Long Form
This improv format starts with a storytelling-style
monologue usually from a celebrity guest, based on
an audience suggestion. After the monologue, players
play improvised scenes inspired by the monologue.
A Day in The Life of
This improv format also focuses on story telling.
Players interview an audience member about their
day. Players will then use the information provided
as inspiration. (This is a great way of reinforcing
workshop / training outcomes).
The Loadshed
This is a long form musical improvisation show inspired
by Eskom and our countrys rolling blackouts. The
audience will offer a suggestion and performers
will create a full show. Scenes are edited by
Loadshedding. We never know when Loadshedding
will hit.
