SK St. Gregory Professional Statement Before I believe that teaching profession is one of the noblest professions in the world. I also believe that becoming a teacher is very challenging as teachers are responsible in educating and producing young generations who are physically, spiritually, emotionally and intellectually balanced as suggested by the National Philosophy of Education. Therefore, a teacher must have the essential knowledge to guide the students onto the right track and raise them to the desired standard. Besides, a teacher must also possess a good personality so that the teacher will become a role model to the young students and further instill good moral values in the students. Moreover, I am of the opinion that an effective teacher must have excellent classroom management skills. From years of training in the college and the university, I had been given the opportunity to learn various classroom management skills, approaches and theories related to the students learning. This practicum would mean a lot to me as it will provide the chance to experiment with all the classroom management theories and find the suitable approach that would suit my classroom situation. I personally favor the democratic style as I believe that a teacher and the students should be like a learning family. In this style, much emphasis are given on the values of love, respect, cooperation and tolerance as these values would build a strong foundation towards a safe learning environment and promote effective communication and a positive relationship among the students and their teacher. In conclusion, I hope to gain as much knowledge as possible during this practicum. I believe that to further improve myself, I need to be put in a real classroom situation where I would be able to see the practicality of all the learning and classroom management theories. Besides, I would like to learn more from the professionals, especially my cooperating teacher and my supervisor, as these professionals will support and guide me to become an effective English language teacher.
